Same thing happened in Adelaide, and it look deliberate IMO - fade to black before returning to the control room, when the ad played out, then it was a hard cut to the weather watchers photo segment.

Surely they could repurpose some Project screens for a cheap updating of the Melbourne set.

Those 7-Day weather forecasts don’t look right.
I also think Brisbane wasn’t live for the second half

Hahaha the awkward cut to Sandra and Josh just standing there and an awkward “live” transition

So, what is our thoughts about the new look.

  • Great - best package yet
  • Very good - could use a few tweeks
  • It’s alright - been better packages
  • It’s bad

Unfortunately, the whole thing is let down by the lack of investment in sets outside of Sydney. Melbourne looks so dated now.

Love how Melbourne’s set has seen three different 10 News incarnations, and Sydney has seen three new 10 News incarnations

The backdrops and the titlecards could be less opaque for local bulletins.

Looking at this image, could they not just rotate the desk and use that nice area off to the side? That single screen looks nice and the lightbox behind looks like it’d work.

They pretty much never do in studio weather so it should be fine?

Now that Studio Bert isn’t being used for The Project, Cheap Seats could move there alongside HYBPA and the original Melbourne news studio where Cheap Seats filmed could be repurposed back into ATV News, it’s. a bigger space and they could repurpose some screens and have a more modern look.

The single screen is absolutely tiny up close.

It should only be used for what it was designed for. Sport.

Personally, I’m still hoping for a GMA reboot in that space in some form. I think 10 would be still eyeing a morning format before 12.

So glad they are finally pushing the city name! Now if they only listened about late local news.

And probably the first typo of the refresh?

No new backdrop and voiceover though?

The new deco at the Sydney newsroom is a nice touch nonethteless:
