Would that be Matt Doran in the fourth cap?

From memory, those were the days when the Brisbane newsroom was extremely slim and they had a period when they frequently flew up presenters from Sydney.
I recall Amanda Jason and Hugh Riminton also flying up.

Because it was outsourced then the bodged it in house.

Much nicer desk.

Getting into my VHS archives again, here’s a special 10 News bulletin from 1994 on the bushfires in Sydney:

In 1986 Network 10 launched two new news services as a complement to the nightly Eyewitness News: Daybreak (an early morning news bulletin from 6am) and Daywatch (a late morning/lunchtime bulletin at 11.30am).

Did Lachlan ever have a connection to Queensland?

I think his parents/family were from there.

Sandra Sully is also from Brisbane, where she once presented their news in the 1990s, though it was in Sydney that she gained a national profile with the Late News, and now the Sydney 5:00 news (and also the Queensland news between 2020-24).

Tim Webster and Ron Wilson also presented Perth’s 5:00pm news when it was produced from Sydney in the noughties, meaning double duty for either man (Webster took over from Wilson in 2005).

Ah

Aside from a few brief stints (or one stint) subbing in Brisbane for a week or two (as she also did in Melbourne and more frequently in Perth) in the early 2000s, I’ve never seen anything to suggest Sandra was anchoring 10 News in Brisbane in the 90s. Are you getting mixed up with Tracey Spicer?

I think Sandra filled-in for Jennifer Hansen in Melbourne alongside Mal Walden on AFL Grand Final Eve in 2001 (2-3 weeks after 9/11).

Could be completely wrong

Wouldn’t test me on the dates cause I was a teenager then, but I know Adelaide was the only market she didn’t ever fill in for. Though Deb Knights did.

friend of mine went to school with her in Brisbane. Speaks very well of her and appears she was just as personable then as she is now and on camera.

Some of you may know as well, she is a twin.

Wikipedia claims it but the source it links to doesn’t say that at all.

Oh, someone has made that up.
We know she was a political reporter in the 90s and then hosted GMA before taking to the news desk in Sydney.

on Wikipedia… nooooooo i don’t believe it

I cannot recall Sandra presenting news at TVQ in any capacity in the early 90’s. Whilst I was doing work experience at BTQ in October 1988, a young Sandra was doing a cadetship with 7 News.

Sandra never read a QLD bulletin regularly until the centralisation. She did fill in at least once in around 2003 though, as mentioned by a few posts further up.

I also remember a Google thread talking about her filling in for Melbourne’s Jennifer Hansen in September 2001 (as also mentioned). Not sure if it happened at any other time

Yes both those things previously mentioned as happening, happened.
Adelaide was the only market she never filled in at 5pm for. She covered at least one of Celina Edmond’s maternity leaves in Perth (from Sydney).
