Ten News and Current Affairs

Thankfully, the centralization was completely reverted by September last year when Brisbane got back its local bulletin, with Sharyn Ghidella being hired to present it not long after she was controversially (IMO) let go by Seven.

Adelaide got back its local bulletin in February 2023, albeit presented from Sydney, while production of the Perth bulletin was quietly returned to Subiaco the following month.

Network 10’s June 2013 crime based current affairs show “Wanted” starred Sandra Sully and Matt Moran with forensic anthropologist and cold case expert Dr Xanthe Mallett and Detective Superintendent Terence Dalton.

The promo was notable for the first use of the sky blue coloured 10 logo.

Very polished show that should still be on air. Not sure why it only had a limited lifespan.

Also worth noting the end of The Circle. ATV10 last mid morning show.

The outdoor promotion for this was great too.

Promo for Wanted - it was the first time that the light blue TEN logo was used.

I was thinking that the refreshed news graphics in dark blue would look good with this 2008 Brisbane set.

Melbourne and Brisbane had similar sets around 2005? I remember they both had the same desks.

Adelaide also had an identical desk as well between 2006-January 2011, but had a different background.

Re: Melb/Bris - yes the sets were identical, except in Melbourne Quarters would sit on Mal’s right and in Brisbane Brad McEwan (and later Michael Voss and Peter O’Dempsey) would sit on Marie-Louise/Georgina’s left. Once Melbourne changed its set in mid-2008, Quarters would move to sitting on Helen’s left.

Sydney and Perth both shared the same 5:00pm desk (with a different backdrop between 2000 and 2004) until June 2008 when production of the latter bulletin returned to the west.

I’m assuming Melbourne’s was slightly smaller to accommodate the studio space.

10 Brisbane’s 2011 set was one of the most beautiful state sets ever built, IMO. The scale and detail was perfection.

There was once upon a time between 2008-13 when Seven and Ten both shared the same font for the word NEWS in its logo.

Can anyone help me break down this clip? Looks like a daytime news bulletin hosted by 10 legends Jo Pearson and Ron Wilson. But did they co-host from two seperate Melb & Syd studios?

Yep - Ron in Sydney and Jo in Melbourne (with chroma-key) as Melbourne had a different set to Sydney at the time.

Also looks like they removed the “Ten” from the Eyewitness News logo at the end as the bulletin also aired on TV0 in Brisbane.

Thanks guys. I have seen footage of Jo hosting the daytime news solo, but not with Ron. Interesting set up. I guess it gave Jo a national profile while she and David were high in the ratings in Melbourne?

re: 10 logo from Eyewitness News. My understanding was that it was always just known as ‘Eyewitness News’ (which I prefered to the longer Ten Eyewitness News used in the 90s and 2010s - felt more like a stand alone product). It may have incorporated the 10 for visual purposes before or after the Eyewitness News logo, or left it out completely.
