Ten getting the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and Seoul was a highlight for them. Bruce McAvaney’s career also launched during that era.

Interesting about Newsnight, never realised that was the “working title”.
I loved the general aesthetic of the newsroom in this era. Looked so good - something which I missed when 10 launched the current set.

They changed it at the very last minute, Newsnight was printed in guides for the first week - as per TVAU’s article from the period, I suspect trademark issues might have stifled things.
Can’t believe how long ago that was.
The way it launched prior to the revival of Ten Late News was hideously ugly - where the studio was entirely screened off / blurred, particularly compared to the look of the Late 2000’s with the taller, wooden desk and the plasma to the side.

News Night is still used by Sky News to this day. 10 would need a new title if it ever returns a late news.
If they did… I would assume it would follow the current branding as the Breakfast and Midday bulletins.

TVQ 1 min 15 sec headlines followed by opener which was rare to see in the local production days, Also shows an emotional Georgie for obvious reasons. One of the finest presenters to date.
