They’re not in business to help you skip ads. They’ll push you to their catch up sites so they can still make a dollar from you.
I don’t fall for that one anymore. I’d happily support their streaming services if it didn’t mean being bludgeoned with the same ad over and over. The length of the breaks is also intolerably long on Australian services. The streaming experiences on comparable international services is much better- three or four ads and not the same ones time and again.
I was looking forward to Ten’s new drama The Secrets She Keeps. I want to support Australian drama but I can’t be bothered chasing it around the schedule on Ten and my experiences with Tenplay have been negative. It’s a diabolical product. I’ll wait for it to appear on an international streaming service. Ridiculous that our FTA networks have turned enjoying Australian entertainment into a frustrating challenge.
A prerecorded show, no less.
The social team managed to have an “8.45 TONIGHT” post on the HYBPA Facebook page, why the hell is the EPG not being updated?
Edit; it’s not even an update that’s required - it’s having the correct runtime loaded in the first place for a prerecorded program.
Ten appear to be having issues, I am finding some blocks of programming missing from the EPG for hours at a time and updates being provided to start/finish times being made quite late. Not sure if other cities have the same issue. WIN appear to still be getting the updated info several weekdays before day zero.
Wonder if the person at TEN responsible doesn’t have as much time to work on it as they once had.
Ever since Ten has broken into programming by Scott Morrison and others has somewhat contributed to the EPG problem. I would put a hedge on that being the case. As it only seemed to have happen when it first started this year
Paid programming in primetime, nice.
Ten’s hardly alone in that regard.
Schedule update
Thursday 14 May
07:30 pm MasterChef Australia Katy Perry guest judges a very special “Hot N Cold” challenge to honour the iconic MasterChef theme song. The contestant with the best dish will find themselves safe from Sunday’s elimination.
09:00 pm MasterChef Australia: MasterClass
10:05 pm The Secrets She Keeps encore
10 should have a huge win tonight.
Agreed
Urgh god, I love Masterchef but there is no way I can sit there watching it for close to 3 hours.
Hopefully when it is uploaded to 10play they separate out the episode from the masterclass as the last masterclass was uploaded as part of the regular episode which i found annoying to have to skip through it.
Re tonight’s show, Lisa Wilkinson posted on her instagram yesterday:
“And tonight (Friday), along with Dr Chris Brown, Rachel Corbett and Tommy Little we are so proud to be bringing you The Love Australia Project”
So it sounds like they could be presenters on tonight’s show (and possibly the lineup for tonight’s The Project?).

This post from 10 this morning seems to confirm they’ll be hosting in some capacity.
I’ve noticed that 10 (in Brisbane) have not been broadcasting any EPG information (incl Now/Next) for the past few days.
10 seem to have found a partial solution to Saturday nights with The Dog House rating well, especially in the key demos. Not only did the show rank in the top 5 on the night it did well in the overall weekly numbers. In 25-54 it ranked above Britain’s Got Talent. In 16-39 it was at the same level as The Weekly and First Dates Australia with more viewers than Paramedics and Better Homes and Gardens.
Looking at the ratings and the show did quite well (for 10 standards, and on a Saturday night no less) and ranked in the top 5 of all demos. Though the main channel still got a sub-10% share it’s the best Saturday night ratings they’ve had in a while IIRC.
Edit: Beaten.
Top 5 is better than nothing but Saturdays in general outside of news are pretty dire for all FTA networks.
Meanwhile there were probably 5m watching Netflix last night.
Not a bad result at all, it was well promoted and something different and lighter for a Saturday night.
Imagine how much better it could be doing with a better lead-in from the 5pm bulletin, 6-7pm should be a priority for them with some new content / ideas too.
That’s terrible! Wonder why?
