If these paragraphs aren’t AI generated, I’ll eat my hat.
Instead, 10 appears to be prioritising stability and familiarity over experimentation. From a programming perspective, the approach is understandable: late-night audiences are typically smaller and more fragmented, making cost-effective, repeatable content an attractive option. Sitcom reruns, particularly those with strong brand recognition, often deliver steady — if unspectacular — results.
At the same time, the move highlights the ongoing challenge for free-to-air broadcasters in balancing audience expectations with commercial realities. With streaming services continuing to dominate the space for premium scripted content, traditional networks are increasingly selective about where and how they deploy their acquired programming.
For viewers, the change marks the end of an era in late-night viewing on 10 — and the beginning of a more familiar, comfort-driven alternative.
Look I think everyone uses AI to assist with writing. My approach is to always write the article myself and THEN I put into AI and say “write this professionally as a news article” So yes my thoughts where that 10 were going the stable familiar route rather than being bold and trying something new. I also did say something along the lines that repeat sitcoms, despite how annoying they can be to schedule, do have a big drawcard. They fill the 10 Comedy space and do well. I also did say that cost was a key factor driving networks - its the reason networks hold shows from previous year and go next year, why shows like the 1% Club hold 2 episodes and show later, etc. I dont want to disrespect the fans of TBBT cause they go in droves and watch on 10 Comedy. I definitely did not want to see that. I would have preferred dramas. So yes I wrote all that but then had AI write what I am saying better in an article format so its more sync. Am I not allowed to do that by your standard?
You can do what you like, it’s your website. I’m just surprised a TV writer would be as lazy as this for their own website, where supposedly we are supposed to go to read your thoughts and scoops on TV scheduling.
If you can’t be bothered writing it, why should I bother reading it?
It just comes across like corporate buzzwords like everything AI. It doesn’t write how humans would speak to each other., nor how journalists write articles.
Do we not have brains to write this ourselves? To add our own thoughts and feelings about the topic rather than let robots do it in a cold, monotonous tone? The thing is, you can pick AI writing from a mile off and it adds nothing to any article or writing.
I think this criticism of 10 is pretty and I also think criticism if @aarontvcentral is unjustifiable. Personally I think its right up there with criticism of the administration - community expectations are that we treat each other with respect.
Firstly on the 10 front - by airing double episodes of Big Bang Theory gives options for 10 which may include
Airing singular episodes if the Late News ends up at 10pm and 10 News+ at 11pm and still starting infomercials at midnight.
Its a program easily dropped for breaking news without the need for explanation
If ratings increase at least in the first half hour, it provides an opportunity to introduce some of the procedurals to follow after 1 episode - i remember over Summer in 1990, NRTV replaced A Current Affair with sitcoms such as Love Thy Neighbour
In relation to the criticism of other contributors
People, at times use AI in their writing, some times the AI writing is more evident than others, sometimes AI fails grammatical correctness. @aarontvcentral 's does not.
Even writers of comedy and other programs use grammatically incorrect language eg instead of “he wrote to me” the line “he write me” - said by Duncan Waring in the Doctor In The House series referring to correspondence between Michael Upton and Duncan Waring (the former played by Barry Evans left to star in Mind Your Language. This is why AI, in all its faults can be good for proof reading.
It should be noted even spell check can be deemed AI as it picks up errors using prescribed parameters
The search article said that the program replacing Colbert in America was being shown here. I agree 10 over use The Big Bang but IMHO it’s better than the American equivalent. Paramount really don’t give a s#it about 10 but I don’t believe there’s anyone who would buy it.
I know it will vary each Quarter, but at the moment, Big Bang will probably air 4 nights a week at 11.10pm, as The Late Show airs at that time on Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri. As The Cheap Seats Encore is on Wednesday nights, pushing The Late Show back to 12.10am on that night. So Shopping can air at that time in the future.
Again.. another “off” comment. Having a go. For the record this is NOT from an embargoed tv guide. That week has not been released. 10 send guides on Fridays, so this will be seen by people that receive guides tomorrow. I got this info from another source so is indeed an exclusive.
In relation to On Air’s comments, it really is sad. I thought there were forum expectations and if this had of happened in any other forum it would have been stopped for using the 10 Schedules thread to talk about someone’s AI.
Again, it wasn’t written first hand by AI. I wrote a FULL article in my own words. However, I left school at Year 10 and never did journalism or professional writing. I believe that articles should be concise, professional, well set out when publicly available. So what I did is give my full article to AI and just ask it to write it professionally in a news article fashion. So it uses all my ideas but writes it more professionally than I can. But I am not lazy. I wrote a longer piece than that actually, but AI made it more concise because perhaps I was saying a particular point too much or it was repeated. That took me effort to get the exclusive because I thought people would be interested in what replaces Colbert, took ages writing it and got AI to polish it. Then I get criticism. Anyway…
I think that the article was good - regardless of whether or not it was edited by AI.
I also think that it would have been criticised regardless of what we were told was the 11pm replacement. I thought 10 might have aired Days Of Our Lives and Young And The Restless post 11pm with infomercials starting at 1am - my rationale is 9GEM no longer has all night infomercials so I thought infomercial advertising might be down now. Im sure we would have got a response of these “serials” should be during the day.
Personally I think the frustration is because 10 is screening the same old, same old,
Anyhow, I think the criticism of the writing has a place and its not here. Advice to anyone wanting to criticism - write your idea on a sheet of toilet paper, flush it, if the toilet paper floats, then post it
We all criticise 10, myself included. But lets talk about the small wins for a second.
MasterChef is up. HYBPA and The Cheap Seats are doing well too. The Late News seems to be up. And the 10 News+ Encore seems to be doing okay too, overall. Small momentum improvement atm.
Is there still work to be done to improve? 100% yes. Ahem - the 6-7.30 slots, The whole morning and lunchtime schedule. Etc. But at least there is some success in their schedule.
