Ten Network - Programs and Schedules

Or is it 10 watch + stream free?

I heard it was 10 streaming acktshually

What is exactly do you watch it for? All the crap they grab from celebrities social media accounts or the ways you can buy clothing or cheap products?

The stories and interviews on new movies, television shows and music. There’s less of that and more celebrity gossip these days but I often fast forward through that crap.

The infomercials are edited out of the Australian broadcasts. That’s probably why the episodes are 18mins long on 10play vs 30mins on 10Comedy.

It’s just so sad to see it nowadays.

Agree that it’s a shadow of it’s former self but that’s true about a lot of the entertainment industry. There was a time when they would cover all entertainment news no matter what studio released it or what network a show was on.

Now, you can see how biased they are with their own CBS/Paramount+ shows that get in-depth coverage and less so for other networks/streamers. Same is true for movies from their own studios versus other studios.

The gossip sadly gets the headline spots on the show even when it’s false rumours. They also have many pre-recorded ET Vaults and ET Retrospectives on public holidays or when they take a holiday break. They can’t be bothered to have fill-in hosts and still do live shows these days. It must be cost-cutting.

But still, on the positive side, they do still manage to have a lot of exclusive interviews and news that you don’t see anywhere else. And their years of recorded interviews do come in handy when they do a tribute on celebrities.

As mentioned earlier, Selling Houses Australia is returning to FTA - this time starting off with Season 14. At least 10 is continuing with Andrew Winter based shows on Saturday nights at 7.30pm. I hope it gets similar ratings to Love It or List Is Aus.

Repeats galore still on Friday nights though.

Not much else to see here.

10 pursuing more lifestyle content, especially in repeat mode, on Friday night is madness given how anything in that genre has fared of late. They never learn

Make it an entertainment night against lifestyle /sport on the other networks, drop the low rating DOND repeat (or air later in the evening) and run something bold there from 7pm.

Quiz shows are obviously popular (I know UK Wheel of Fortune didn’t resonate, but it’s trash) but there are so many options they could go with here that would be cheap, even if was imported or recycled from Foxtel or streaming.

Plus it warms up the slot for the inevitable Big Brother returning to Friday nights soon.

I mean sure, that’d at least get people talking :joy:

Can’t wait to see what format 10 announce at their upfronts this year which will supposedly turn Fridays around, only to be killed off after a season like Location, Location, Location; Ready, Steady Cook; and now House Hunters Australia.

10’s mistake was to show double episodes of House Hunters Australia each week when 20 episodes were produced for season one. If only a single episode was shown per week, it would have lasted until the new season of The Graham Norton Show starts in September / October.

I think House Hunters Australia should be renewed for 2026, but each episode should have two couples (thus 60 minutes).

I don’t think it was airing back-to-back episodes which were the issue here, 10 have largely all but abandoned that lifestyle slot since they killed off The Living Room and viewers aren’t interested in poor copies of international formats in the lifestyle space for limited runs.

Time to do something different on Fridays.

Location Location Location and Ready Steady Cook were complete flops. House Hunters Australia had potential, and although it mostly missed out on the top 30, it did appear randomly. I also think it should have just aired as half an hour a week - with just the random double episode - until Graham Norton returned. Now, there is gaps in the schedule and too many repeats on a Friday.

At least 10 is trying with new content. But is it good enough? I don’t know. I just dont think it works for them on a Friday night anymore. Up against Better Homes and Gardens and Gardening Australia (and Country Houses on 9 sometimes). Less competition on a Saturday. Thus why Love it or List It was rating okay.

Programming Fridays with no sport was always tough but I think it’s nigh on impossible in the streaming era - obviously this does not apply to everyone but if you’re in Ten’s target market and not watching the sport then you’re either going out or from what I gather is very much a streaming/Netflix night. Watching whatever is on on Ten is very much down the priority list.

Just to jump here if I may, some of Paramount+’s biggest shows drop on a Friday such as NCIS Sydney, Dexter and South Park all scream “10 viewers”. I’m wondering if that’s where they are on a Friday. Not to mention Criminal Minds on Disney+ also screens on a Friday during its run.

Elsbeth and Ghosts also airing on Friday’s during the year.

Almost certainly. And if not P+, somewhere else .

Can you programme on linear to counter that? Probably not.

Could you do a best of the week 10 News + at 7:30pm or 8:30pm just to try and get some sampling in? However small?

Why doesnt Ten look at reviving The Living Room. Like with Better Homes replacing Noni, replace Chris with freah new talent - possibly anothet qualified vet which could lead to a potential 30 minute lifestyle program for say 7pm Saturdays (something similar to Bondi Vet) - possible name The Good Vet (even as a working title)

They probably saw the ratings for the revamped House of Wellness with an audience, and thought - no thanks, we will pass.

The problem with The House Of Wellness, in its original form seemed like an extended infomercial - like they took all the infomercial segments from The Morning Show and threw a show together.
