Promos should start moving over to HD this month I’d say.
News stories? There are no plans at this stage to upgrade the servers and news edit suites to HD as yet for any market. Studio cameras and graphics in Brisbane and Melbourne should be by the end of the year I hear.
News stories are SD, and will be for some time to come.
Lexington, when can we expect the new Ten logo to appear in new promos and elsewhere in the On-Air Presentation? Looks very out of place with a brand new logo next to the previous presentation graphics…
The news presentation in the studio is HD but the individual news stories are in SD. So either they’re filmed on SD or uploaded in SD. Either way, the whole news is not in HD.
With news stories made up from footage from overseas news programs and the general public’s recording devices, it will never totally be in HD.
Most shows these days are filmed in HD by default. From what I would assume, the only reason why a locally produced pre recorded show would be SD would be due to only a SD playout being required at the time.
I imagine as Lexington has said multiple times, that over the coming months the transition of current shows will be to HD PLAYOUT.
We must remember that as has also been said, it was a soft launch. Soft launches are never perfect or complete so we just need to be patient.
Let’s at least be great full that there is a HD channel, as I didn’t think we would be seeing it anytime soon!
When will 10HD start broadcasting shows imported from America in HD? I thought perhaps The People V. OJ Simpson would be HD and not a SD upscale because they premiered it after Ten HD started broadcasting but it seems to not be the case.

I don’t know what they’re doing to Madam Secretary but it is extreme.
