Happy 25 years of people writing whatever they want and calling it fact ![]()
You know the funniest part about this for me is, I was first recommended this website by a teacher……….

If it’s Wikipedia…they’re not doing their job properly.
If it’s MediaSpy…they need their heads read.
And this is coming from a teacher.
This was a very very long time ago only 4 years after it came out. The funniest part about it is the months after the teacher said it the school found out how the website worked and it was blocked.
Sony is spinning off their TV division to form a joint venture with China’s TCL.

Shame really, considering they’re the biggest Japanese AV brand and one of the last holdouts in the category. Toshiba sold it to Hisense a few years ago, Sharp is under Taiwanese hands, and there were reports last year claiming Panasonic is thinking of selling their TV division too
TCL is on the same class as LG and Samsung now, just look at their new TVs on display at the CES in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Agree, and Hisense as well.
My iPhone 8 is affected by this. Can’t dial anyone at all. May just get one of those cheap dumbphones from the supermarket to use for now until this update gets rolled back/fixed.
Try CEX. They do good work on refurbishing iPhones and offering them at reasonable prices.
Also, OzMobiles are ALWAYS having sales on their products. I’ve gotten all my iPhone’s from them in the past and have had no issues with them. I’d look at them first because they have better warranty options.
Telstra has now fixed this issue. If anyone is on an affected device, open your Settings app, go to General, then About, and then click ‘OK’ on the the carrier settings update notification. This will restore all cellular functions that were previously broken, including calling, SMS, and mobile data.
The company warned that a threat actor could exploit the bug by convincing a user to open a specially crafted Markdown (.md) file in Notepad and click on an embedded malicious link.
Microsoft says the vulnerability could cause Notepad to “launch unverified protocols” that load and execute remote files.
In a successful attack, malicious code could be downloaded and run on the victim’s machine, potentially giving the attacker the same permissions as the logged-in user.
This may be the update that I did this morning…
Mobile phone internet use soars as landline use keeps falling, ACMA research shows
The ACMA has today released new research providing insights into current trends and developments in the Australian media and communications environment.
In 2025, internet access among Australian adults remained almost universal at 99.7 per cent. More of us used mobile phones to go online more frequently with the proportion of adults accessing the internet via mobile phones rising to 97 per cent (from 95 per cent in 2024). Daily mobile internet use also increased to 92 per cent from 90 per cent in 2024.
There was also a continued rise in the use of smart TVs, used by 64 per cent of adults in 2025 compared with 61 per cent the previous year.
In contrast, household landline use continued its long-term decline. Only 12 per cent of Australian adults used a landline phone in 2025, down from 15 per cent in 2024 and 54 per cent in 2017.
While overall internet activity access and usage remained steady, several key activities showed a notable rebound after a period of post-pandemic decline, with many returning to levels observed in 2022 and 2023. Notably, ‘accessing government services via apps’ and ‘video conferencing or calling’ both increased, reversing declines seen in the previous year.
The research is comprised of three reports which have all been published on the ACMA website:
