Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Gen

What is this hug the rat shit? Simply bizarre and incredibly lame.

What is meant to be… funny?
An Inside joke?
There’s a rat infestation in the former Sydney Studio 10?

Feels like they tried to keep the running gag associated with “celebrity guests” delivering the End Game envelope, but without actually having End Game or rotating funny ideas

I distinctly remember one “celebrity guest” (i.e. an extra) delivering the envelope while covered in peanut butter

It’s just awfully unfunny. Without context and I don’t think there is any, it just doesn’t make sense.

Zilennial here. Hug the rat for every single episode is weird.

The rat appearing as the unofficial mascot of the show in photoshop challenges is a fun Easter egg. If “hug the rat” was an occasional feature it could be a fun gimmick, like Stewart the Meetkat. But every episode feels tired.

What episode number are we up to?

Three episodes in. It seems to be a permanent feature, otherwise they wouldn’t make a big thing out of it

Agree. I think the audience was tired of this “sketch routine” after the first episode.

It’s good that the comedians aren’t all the those who have been on other comedic shows on 10 or other comedic shows etc. and they are getting new up and coming comedians

This week was episode 3 out of 8.

That is not a thing. You’re a Zoomer. Accept it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m not sure if I missed an in-joke but last night I really didn’t understand why Anne wasn’t accepting some answers from Gen Y and instead giving the points to Gen Z? It happened on the Lynx Africa question and again when Tommy correctly answered Iced Vovo. Then when Nath complained, she awarded even more points to Gen Z.

I know it’s meant to be a bit of fun but they’re still competing. Random scoring like that just makes it all feel stupid and pointless.

Either bias or pity to allow Z to win?

Yeah, it felt like it was fixed for a Z win after 2 weeks of being 3rd place.

Shaun knows those biscuits well, or at least Dick Smith’s knock-off

From Micallef Tonight, the only clip of the sketch seems to have been pulled down from YouTube

This week’s special guest is John Jones, a ball kid (and Chief Happiness Officer) at this year’s Australian Open. He will ask a list of tennis-related questions to the three teams. John will also be involved in the final round, giving away a tennis ball to every audience member while Anne asks the questions in the background.
