Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Gen

I’ve seen bits and pieces on Anisa’s stand up. So good on them for getting a fresh face.
But other than that I’m not a fan of the choice of Hughsy, Tommy or Anne.

All three would make decent guests though

All the comments on the TV Tonight article are about how bad of a choice Dave is, and I agree. Three shows in a year is at best two too many for him.

I think one things that the show benefits from is when the team captains are relatively unknown on TV.

In the original run, Amanda had a radio career and a list of smaller scale TV appearances, while Charlie and Josh had mostly been in stand-up comedy until that point. The three captains gelled naturally with Shaun’s antics and made the show the icon it was.

Audiences mostly didn’t know them, they were fresh.

The Channel 9 revival wasn’t quite as successful, but you still had two relatively unknown captains balanced with the well-known Andy Lee. Robyn was a brilliant fit with her background in radio and comedy TV, Laurence not so much but it was still fresh.

Australian comedians seem to be free agents - Tommy and even Tom Cashman have been on The Hundred in the last couple of weeks.

I thought Guy Montgomery would’ve been a good fit for host, I feel like he could have channelled Micallef a bit while throwing his own spin on it. Spelling Bee might’ve caused a conflict though, obviously.

ITV Studios Australia is producing the show, like the previous version for Nine. ITV’s predecessor Granada Media Australia made the show when the original iteration aired on Ten from 2009 to 2012.

So, effectively, the same production company has been responsible for producing the series throughout its entire television run.

A merger typically involves the acquisition and rebranding of assets—it does not mean the original company ceases to exist entirely, only that its former branding is discontinued.
