Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Gen

There shouldn’t be any overlap at all. Did they stuff up?

They’ve also started Gen X much later than others have classed it in the past. I can remember years ago they classed Baby Boomers as being born 1946-1963 and Gen X 1964-1981. Then Gen Y were born from 1982.

The thinking was that a generation spanned 18 years.

…and what’s with the guests listed in episode four?

Red Symons, Tina Bursill and Peter Rowthorn. Wouldn’t all three be considered to be baby boomers?

Last time they had guest quiz masters from the Baby Boomers. Copied from Have You Been Paying Attention?

But doesn’t seem to be a reason why they should be matched with X,Y,Z.

It’s unusual for guests for each episode to be revealed well in advance.

Who are all of these Gen Z guests? Though I’m technically part of Gen Z I’ve never heard of any of these people except Aaron Chen (even then only once or twice). I find myself continuing to identify more with Gen Y, a holdover from the original run perhaps or just the fact that I’ve heard of the guests?

I do find Laurence reasonably entertaining though. Adelaide kids have got to stick together!

Micallef explained the first and the last episodes of the shorter season are recorded on separate days, while the other six episodes are filmed two at a time. “The whole series takes about five weeks to shoot. It was done during my holidays and didn’t feel like work at all.”

5 days of filming over a 5 week period, no wonder it didn’t feel like work.

Will make sure to watch episode 3. Just admire Michala Banas.

The accidental host
Micallef was not in the initial plan to host the series for Nine, he told Mediaweek .

Well we’re extremely lucky that he returned! He’s the glue-and-face-and-energy of the show, and now that the team captains are into their second season their more developed relationships with Shaun and each other should definitely show on-screen!!

I do hope they don’t try to push with the “Laurence is the new dumb youngster like Josh was” vibe and do their own thing, I think I felt that a couple times last season. Maybe play more off of his performing arts background instead (I might be a little biased in that field :joy:).

Really I felt the opposite with Lawrence. I felt they made he look very smart.

No change to the theme music, graphics or set for season 6 of TAYG.

A new term that can be used on the next season: Echo Boomers

That term has been around for a while. It can’t compete with Milennials.

Season 6 premieres Wednesday May 1 at 7.30pm. It is mentioned at the end of a feature interview with Laurence Boxhall inside today’s Herald Sun Weekend liftout.

TALKIN’ ‘BOUT YOUR GENERATION IS BACK

(AND THIS TIME IT’S INTERPERSONAL)

Wednesday 1 May at 7.30pm

Australia’s favourite hour of intergenerational laughs is back – Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, led by host Shaun Micallef, returns Wednesday, May 1, at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.

Micallef has been a mainstay of Australian television for over 25 years, and as the token baby boomer on the show he takes the noble seat as host to once again delve deep into the abyss to find the answer to the integral question – which really IS the greatest generation to have ever lived?

To aid his research, he has enlisted three of the best players in the business. Leading Generation X is prolific content creator Robyn Butler. Star of radio, TV and podcasts, Andy Lee, is back as captain of Generation Y. And actor Laurence Boxhall will captain the lesser-lived Generation Z.

Episode one will be a TAYG for all ages when the team captains are joined by Gold FM breakfast radio host Christian O’Connell, pop duo The Veronicas and actor Angourie Rice for a contest where there can only be one (or two, or three, depending on how you count them) winner.

Who will get words in their mouths, songs in their ears and pickled cabbage on their faces? There’s only one way to find out and that’s by sittin’ and watchin’ Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation on Wednesday, May 1, at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.

The start of the show feels better than all the episodes last year.

And they’re calling them Gen Zed, as they always should have.
