$14 for up and go? Christ, I’ve been away for 5 years and that’s insane.
For a six pack…yeah, $14 sounds about right. That’s $2.34 a carton. Still too much at any rate.
That’s NZ, not Australia. Some of the BP Connect stores here are already run by independent contractors. Sounds like a weird way to say franchising.

By the time HN opened in Muswellbrook at Muswellbrook Fair (which replaced Bi-Lo South Muswellbrook with Coles, on which Aldi now sits). both Retravisions in Scone and Muswellbrook closed, and had been closed for a while. Some of the long time furniture stores had closed, but if they didn’t by the time HN came in, it was the final nail in the coffin.
HN might have seen the combined Scone/Aberdeen/Muswellbrook and wider Upper Hunter area as an ideal spot to put a store - plenty of money from miners at the time. A few years before, Big W came to town when Muswellbrook Marketplace got expanded.
The case then, as it is now, is that most people go to Muswellbrook for fairly big purchases and dealing with some government agencies, if they don’t go up to Tamworth or down to Singleton or Newcastle (or probably go online more likely) for said purchases. Funnily enough, Singleton doesn’t have a HN, but has roughly the same stores as Muswellbrook has, except for Bunnings, Silly Sollys and IGA to name a few.
