They’ll be right as long as Amazon doesn’t stock Hawaiian shirts and lime green suits.
There is a Blockbuster video hire business in Springwood; Goodna still has its Civic Video and there remains a third, the Network Video in Flinders View, all of which are outside of Brisbane.
However, Brenton’s decision to close his video store doors robs Brisbane of its last video hire business.
In the United States, only eight Blockbuster video stores remain and five of them are in Alaska.
One thing I noticed on a holiday to the Gold Coast last year was the huge amount of video rental stores there, surely they didn’t look far outside ‘Brisbane’?
the goldie isn’t exactly the sort of place you’d drive to to grab a video if you live in brisbane. i go to the gold coast often and even with no traffic from my place to surfers paradise it’s an hour drive one way.
This has been rumored (and has actually happened to a number of stores as the article acknowledges) for years now.
A new target just opened here within inner Perth (Subiaco) last month and I was genuinely surprised they didn’t decide to open a Kmart instead. The product mix in the store is even more similar to a Kmart than existing Target stores.
And may I ask, who is running that website and how do I know if it’s not all bluff?
Sounds like something a ex ACA reporter would write.
Would the affluent Western suburbs of Perth have accepted a Kmart store? The last time a discount store was open there was Fosseys at Claremont which became Target Country for a short period in the early 2000’s.
Target Victoria Park is first to convert to Kmart in Perth. It will be interesting to see how the change is received in that area given Kmart at Belmont is only 5km away. Then again the nearest Target is Carousel about 6km away.
I would say Target on Wanneroo Road in Westminster could be next to convert, after that a few Target Country outlets could convert which might be received quite well in rural areas.
The whole situation is messy. Wesfarmers should just offload Target. This is becoming like Coles and BILO again, with the latter being sacrificed in the 2000s.
Bring back Fosseys, I say.
Is there a small format Kmart anywhere? Some of those Target Country stores are fairly small, equivalent in size to Best & Less.
That’s the same around my area. Since Target Broadmeadows was converted to a Kmart, there’s now three Kmart’s within 6kms of me. Airport West, Broadmeadows and Campbellfield (24 hours)
News Corp regularly has news stories about the latest Kmart product or product hack a shopper has discovered. There’s another one today about a Kmart suitcase. Does Kmart have an advertorial deal with News?
No doubt they do considering this piece from Media Watch last year (albeit unrelated to Newscorp).
Has anyone noticed an increase in advertising for brands which have had their Codeine products placed under the “Prescription Only” restrictions?
For example, I’ve noticed a huge increase in advertising for Mersynofen (Mersyndol being their codeine brand). Plus, I’ve noticed advertising for a new brand of Nurofen (to replace their Nurofen Plus brand).
I believe both of these products combine the equivalent of 1 tablet of paracetamol (500mg) and 1 tablet of ibuprofen (200mg) into a single tablet, but they have a markedly higher price than if you just buy the 1 tablet of paracetamol and 1 tablet of ibuprofen separately and take them at the same time.
I don’t really get the hype over codeine, though. I was prescribed Panadeine Forte after twisting my ankle badly, and I can say that it didn’t really make much difference over taking Panadol. Panadeine Forte has 4x the codeine as the codeine medicines that were available over the counter, so it boggles my mind as to how people were getting addicted to the stuff.
Drink a bottle of shiraz and take two Panadeine Forte’s before bed. Best dreams ever.
Home Brand Ibuprofen $1.55 and Paracetamol about $1.10 for capsules (easier to swallow) or tablets $0.70. Made in Australia, why any one spends money on Panadol or Nurophen is beyond me.
There was a recent law change.
Myer in Sydney have changed some of their signage today along Pitt Street Mall to rainbow colours and are flying rainbow banners and have rainbow decorations, in store.
I see online that they are sponsoring the Sydney Mardi Gras this year.
Something you won’t see Emirates or Optus do
I read somewhere that Coles brand Paracetamol is made in India.
