Noticed recently that a JB Hi-Fi store in Sydney in The Galeries shopping centre has had a section of their store redesigned and outfitted to look like an Apple Store. A bit like department stores have separate sections for each designer these days.
This could be the future for JB Hi-Fi, with space which had been devoted to CDs and DVDs, reused for bigger tech products.
stevie wonder could see this happening. with apple opening there own stores they just crushed any one else nearby.
it is a bit of a shame in some respects (i brought my first emac from next byte (1.25GHZ power pc processor and an 80 GB HD for those interested) but later on when i needed service i felt like i was burden on them and went elsewhere.
i had to get my apple watch serviced a few weeks ago. i took it in and got a swap within 3 days and have never had a bad experience at an apple owned store - and iâve been to all the sores in SEQ (Robina, Chermside, Carindale and Brisbane CBD), George St Sydney and also 5th avenue in NYC (as a mater of fac the 5th avenue store was extremely patent with me with i asked stupid questions like âa dime is 10 cents right?â)
NextByte was owned by Vita Group (who mostly own and operate smaller/quieter Telstra stores), and AFAIK they havenât done so well for quite some time now. Theyâve been winding the business down since 2015 but then announced they were accerlating the process so all NextByte stores were closed by March 2016.
Whitfords, Dianella, Cockburn Central (this one was actually swapped - IGA got the Northbridge Coles store in return for handing over the lease for Cockburn Central).
Huge gaps at the checkout this week with Bauer magazines like Womanâs Day and TV Week missing. Is this happening elsewhere? Has anybody seen/heard anything about Coles removing magazines from their supermarkets?
I was looking for TV Week (because itâs so bad now, I only read it at the checkout) when I noticed everything else was missing this week. Could just be this supermarket I visited but maybe something else is going on.
I notice in recent months, staff at Coles and Woolworths at The Glen have been slow on putting magazines like New Idea, Womanâs Day and TV Week on the shelves. I sometimes donât get to see the copies until Tuesday (the mags are supposed to be delivered to newsagents and supermarkets on Sunday and go on sale the next morning).
Might have been a false alarm on the magazines front because I visited another city Coles and they still have them. Although I did notice their magazine rack has been halved in size since I last visited there and is now filled with cheep and nasty crap.
I was in Target at Roselands today. Some of these discount department stores really need to invest some money into their sound systems. They sound so cheap and nasty. It negatively impacts on the whole shopping experience.
Target may have been clean and well stocked but the sound permeating the entire space was nasty.
How did you lower yourself to visit such an establishment, gven your reluctance to enter an Aldi? Werenât you also concerned about coming into close contact with all those povvo housos at Target or risk being seen with them?
I always try dress properly when I am shopping at Aldi. The stores are German owned. If you are not dressed appropriately you can raise suspicion and the security can be quite intimidating. At the Bondi Junction store they often ask customers for their papers.
