UPDATE 7/2: Fifi Box hit back at claims she doesn’t shop at Kmart, during her Fox FM breakfast show today.
Metro Petroleum has taken over a few 7 Eleven sites in Perth. Canning Vale, Wangara and Wanneroo. These outlets were very close to other 7 Eleven’s.
They have entered the SA market by taking over the former EG site in Blair Athol. Now branded as a Mobil site with Metro cobranding.
Two other former X Convenience sites have also retained Mobil fuel which I believe may have been acquired by Pearl Energy.
Should’ve used this in their ads
Miller’s Clothing going out of business. This is the store in Southgate Sylvania this afternoon. Even store fixtures are for sale.
Part of Mosaic Brands. It’s all going out of business.
We have discussed it here already but I thought I’d post this photo for posterity.
Fair enough.
Sad to see Myer and DJs discontinue the Clearance Store format during 2016 and 2018 respectively but if you want to know how long until both chains start opening up Full-priced Brick and Mortar stores again, the answer is not ever. The closest you will see is existing store revamps (E.G. store relocations or interior refurbishments). The only best way both these chains can start opening up stores again is that we see the reintroduction of the Clearance Outlet Stores and Myer could service 8 of these around Australia (2x each for Victoria and New South Wales and 1x each for Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia) and David Jones 6 (1x each in all states/territories it currently has stores in).
They shouldn’t have so much clearance however, only indicates issues under the hood, and poor buying. You should be able to flog off clearance via online these days reducing the reliance on the instore shopper coming across any specials.
I feel like Myer needs a new store format, however full store renewals are just as expensive as opening a new store, they don’t really have the earnings to blow on upgrading the fleet.
I assume we will start seeing Apparel Brands in Myer soon? Peter Alexander is probably one that will land soon. They could perhaps close some underperforming apparel brands stores and simply put them into a nearby Myer especially if in the same centre.
I’ve got to say after visiting both Myer and David Jones in Rundle Mall recently. Myer looks and feels the better store. Much more product, David Jones just feels sad and empty in parts, especially menswear.
PA has had its own section in Myer stores for years.
As much as I’d like to see new stores from both those chains, other alternatives would be: Only the best performing Metro Stores (And Gold Coast stores in Queensland) remain or only the CBD stores and the Gold Coast Stores remain.
The Perth David Jones and Myers store in the city are equally both shit. Any store currently around Australia would be better than the Perth hay street stores.
That is also the case in some of the other stores around Australia that still have the late-1990s interior look. You’d like to think both those chains should do a full store renewal program for the CBD Stores of ACT, SA and WA (Mind you the WA CBD store has top floor only used Xmas Time).
Both Adelaide CBD Myer and David Jones are relatively modern, Myer only finished their Reno’s a few years ago. David Jones could do with a little refresh but the building was new when it opened in the early 2000’s.
Myer Garden City and Karrinyup are the best in Perth.
Soon you will be seeing ads at weigh scale screens and assisted checkout screens at Woolworths and Big W.
