great news. when our little one had cancer redkite really helped with necessities like a blanket, a powerbank and even a coles voucher, but the best thing was the support groups
Anyone bother going to the Boxing Day Salss today? I feel like a whole bunch started pre Xmas anyway. I feel like Boxing Day has been taken over by Black Friday, definitely lost its status as the years biggest and best (personally who can be even bothered doing shopping after Xmas)
I was at the shops getting groceries today and the crowds were worse than Black Friday. That was enough to put me off for now. Maybe tomorrow (Fri) or Saturday.
Tomorrow would be best - at least a sizable portion of the population (though probably not too much if many are on Christmas break) will be back at work.
Can’t imagine many going back for just one day since it’s Friday. Surely most will take annual leave tomorrow/Friday.
Fair enough, but even then, still would be more at work on the Friday than the Saturday (even if it’s a very small difference)
So many slow news days at this time of year. We seem to get this same old story pop up every few years.
I’ve been doing my bit to help make up for it!
Cheers
Woolworths biscuits are hard as bricks! Coles do a better softer/chewy cookie.
Bloody alcoholic.
Dreams crumb true.
Nearly 18 months on from the policy change taking effect, Twomey’s dire warnings have proved misplaced.
Rather than 665 pharmacies shutting their doors, just 22 pharmacies across Australia have closed.
New figures from the Department of Health and Ageing reveal that between September 1, 2023, when 60-day scripts began, and November 30, 2024, the department received a total of 165 applications to open new pharmacies. Of those applications, 87 were approved, leading to new pharmacies.
Shocked, I tell you…
Woolworths to celebrate Australia Day again.
In an unwanted start to the year, AP+ have reissued a warning that could see thousands of Aussies without access to card payments as the eftpos network goes through an update.
Australian Payments Plus (AP+) says they have made progress on its technical issues but not all customers have updated their device yet.
As such, AP+ and the Australian Banking Association (ABA) urge everyone who has received a message from their bank about updating the debit card in their mobile wallet to do so before the clocks move over to January 1 2025.
Physical cards will not be impacted by this update.
AP+ first issued the warning on December 18, urging customers to manually update their mobile wallets to avoid a technical update that could render them unable to spend their own money after the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.
There was talk almost ten years ago about this happening. TBH I’m surprised it’s taking this long.
A fun fact I learnt from the “No Such Thing As a Fish” podcast, is that the numbers are country of origin specific… so barcodes created here tend to all start with 93 and all books come from the country of bookland.
Heinz apparently pays a premium to make sure that the number 57 is in the barcode somewhere.
