Supermarkets and Retail

Apparently you can get your meat for free if you go into the shop with a giant box wrapped as a present.

Sounds like an old episode of The Chaser’s War.

Not sure when this happened, but Everyday Pay has been axed at Woolies. Didn’t seem to last that long.
It was worth using while they were offering double points on Everyday Pay transactions, but after that it was just useless and more effort. In my local store (and a fair few others I’ve been to) it’s hard to get any useable phone reception to even use it.

It was talken away due to scammers using it but I thought they going to bring it back later on. In theory it was a good idea but using Android Pay or Apple pay was easier.

Oh incidentally (and I did check, but couldn’t find this has been posted) Coles now has a digital receipt option when you shop in store.

The page talks about scanning the Coles barcode, but it also worked with a linked flubuys for me.

What do you mean by Scanners using it?

Triple points were good and then they reduced it to double and was a bit disappointed and now when I saw that message yesterday
. They have really reduced the value of the program
. Must have been costing too much!

Scammers

Woolworths has shut down part of its Everyday Rewards app temporarily after users were targeted by sophisticated scammers who tricked them into giving away their personal details.

The supermarket giant revealed that a “small number” of customers had been targeted in a “sophisticated external phishing scam” relating to the Everyday Pay QR payment option on the app.

I notice Coles Plus Saver is a thing advertised in my Coles app to sign up to . $7 a month and you get 10 percent off one shop a month.

Yet with Flybuys I am getting 10 percent off nearly every month with these offers for $0.

How do you do that?

Clogging up GPs with people doctor shopping for someone who will prescribe them a vape would have been really pointless, so this seems like a perfectly good middle ground.

Pharmacies will have to have some responsibility to only stock things that are genuine quit smoking aids, and given the unknowns around risk, it’s right to have them a step above other things like gum and patches in terms of needing that pharmacist approval.

They would be behind the counter, and pharmacies could choose to simply not stock them at all if they weren’t comfortable in their medical need - I’m sure it will take a bit of time for products that meet the new rules to be available.

I check my Flybuys and every month or two it says "Get 10 percent off one shop " max $50 off . Activate it .

I have had it about 4 times this year.

Gotcha. I get those too.

Yeah once it was in my email saying thankyou North Qld for something (This is Central Qld)? Not sure and i thought it was a one off but i have had various offers like 10 percent off cleaning products as well and now 10 percent off fruit and vege (min $20 spend)

Once i had the 10 percent off a shop and the cleaning products at the same time.

Unfortunately, the bad news did break without notice (I think) to Victoria Movie Lovers a few days ago that Ballarat Regent Cinemas will soon be no longer.

Although Delacombe Showbiz is Ballarat’s only Cinema, I have my fingers crossed the number of Cinema Complexes in the region will remain intact.

A huge new Coles was opened yesterday in Surry Hills (technically in Redfern).

The old Surry Hills Shopping Village was demolished and the site redeveloped as high rise apartments. Coles, Vintage Cellars and Harris Farm Msrkets are the tenants on the ground floors of two of the buildings. I’m surprised with the design of the retail sections and that they haven’t created space for specialty shops like the previous development or other developments in nearby suburbs.
