Supermarkets and Retail

They’ve just realised buying full page newspaper ads are no longer value, and news is the undisputed home of clickbait.

Probably should be a disclaimer ‘this article paid for by’

I recall BIGW and 7 got into trouble with the regulator when they did a paid spot on one of the morning show, and didn’t advertise it as such.

A sad day for NZ, and particularly Southland, retail. We seem to be losing more and more of these big department stores every year.

As well as providing the price and weight of a product, Woolworths will now provide key nutritional and allergy information on the item’s shelf tag.

Woolworths will start removing confectionery marketed towards children from its checkout aisles nationally in an effort to make parents’ lives easier.

Or how bout the parents just do their own parenting… Fuck me, this is getting beyond a joke.

Agree, if Woolies REALLY wanted to make parents lives easier, they’d put on more checkout staff… at my local Woolies the checkout lines are usually 3 deep with people having their trolleys stacked to the brim… You can’t be served by a person unless you are happy to wait 10-15 minutes.

Exactly, the amount of checkouts that I see closed during the day at my local Woolies is annoying, especially between 3-6pm when it’s really busy. They have like 1 person at the front desk and then manning 1 checkout near the front desk. It’s usually crazy so I avoid going there at that time these days.

Yes, I agree, put on more checkouts, especially at peak times!

Or how about the parents don’t go to the shops with their annoying little bastards and dump them at their friend’s house or parents’ house and do the shopping without the distraction? Problem solved.

The idea that now Woolworths, which is a business, now seem to be woke with this idea we have to cater to every parent to make their shopping easier. Hell no. Stupid.

They need to roll out Scan&Go to more stores. It’s so quick and easy to use.

It’s alright if you have a couple of items but not good when things go wrong. I had technical issues a few times and after I had to scan everything twice on three separate occasions, I stopped using it.

The other thing though is that They will most likely make more money from making the impulse lines like this and Tbh, I think the majority of customers will be happy about this change.

The issue and the reason I stopped using it is that everytime the system would flag my shop so the checkout supervisor would need scan 5 random items which would override any savings scan and go gives you. But yes it is quick and convenient when it does work.

Not Tamworth this time

This could probably also go in the Fast Food topic on the forum:

Need to wait 2 weeks to see what might be regarded as a safe level.

The IARC safety review was conducted to assess whether or not aspartame is a potential hazard, based on all the published evidence, a person familiar with the matter told the Guardian. However, it does not take into account how much of a product a person can safely consume.

That advice comes from a separate WHO expert committee on food additives, the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (Jecfa), which has also been reviewing aspartame use this year. It is due to announce its findings on the same day the IARC makes public its decision, on 14 July.

Agree… there is a curtain risk with all things. The alternative is to drink sugar, put on weight and get diabetes?
