It’s actually more widespread than that. Over 125 countries around the world this week. Strangely dome of the countries you’d consider as very religious like Italy and Ireland don’t have it as a publuc holiday.
Plus, a lot of eastern European countries are Orthodox so some have their Good Friday public holiday next week like Greece, Serbia and Romania.
If you’re talking about things like Ubereates then I would say a lot of the smaller companies fill fold but Uber eats and manu log will be the main two that keep going. Both of these have there own grocery options so it will be interesting to see what happens with that.
Ubereats is here to stay, but I question the long term viability of the rest continuing operations in the Australian market in particular.
Just remember that a lot of the VC money that went into these companies was based on the assumption that at some stage they’ll be able to use drones / self driving vehicles. The problem is, they mostly assumed this would be happening by now and the costs are really starting to bite, particularly in markets where they lose a tremendous amount of money.
Don’t give them any ideas. I can picture it now. Manu at the top of the ad says “Did anybody say Manu Log?” And Katy replies “No, Menu Log” before bursting into song.
I more wonder when Easi and Fantuan (which has my favourite logo of all the apps) will make a strong push into English language marketing and restaurants. It seems like they’ve carved out strong niches in the market, and I see their riders a lot - but I never think to order from them.
Door Dash seems to be lower on the driver acceptance list. Last order I did was at least an hour wait, half dozen drives all took the order within that hour, then cancelled. Food arrived (eventually) cold, got a $3 sorry credit when I clicked that auto feedback link that spits out a random credit.
I only gripe with Uber Eats is they juggle many orders at once, last week from picking up my order to dropping off was at least 30 minutes. Stopped and dropped off many orders on the way. I really couldn’t be bothered driving out so I just need to suck it up I guess. Since the pandemic we have really come accustomed to home cooking though, probably get take out once a month now.
Where are you? I have got Door dash a few times and it’s genrally pretty good. I’m not sure why but if I order via Door dash it will normally be quicker then Uber eats or Menu Log.
Was Metro Melb. I have had some good wins on DD, but my last experience put me off. However I guess that could be said about the others, always some pretty average reviews going around for all players. Just depends on workload, traffic at the time I guess. I just assumed drivers get less for DD so will prioritise Uber over them if those orders come through.
I just hate the whole cancelling order when they have already driven half way to collect it (I assume they get a higher paying job so knock mine back) Then repeat that half dozen times I was just going to get it myself .
It’s worst when you see them drive up your street and don’t drop off the order and continue driving and flag the order as delivered when it has not been. They also do not answer their phone. This exact thing has happened to me numerous times. I regard it as theft and any drivers who do it should be immediately banned from the platform unless they have a very good reason.
Mirvac has previously gone on record to reiterate its commitment to retaining retail on the site at Sandgate Road.
It could, however, be an opportunity to reimagine the site with residential and commercial components, similar to the evolutions of other shopping centres around Australia, including Vicinity Centres’ Box Hill development.
