Oops, I meant EG.
Also noted that EG are calling themselves EG/Caltex, as opposed to âEG/Ampolâ due to the ongoing court case of EG Australia vs Ampol Ltd.
I would assume if EG does win their case, the âCaltex Woolworthsâ name would still be used in reference to EG outlets (even though they are no longer called Caltex Woolworths), in addition to the new âAmpol Woolworths Metroâ outlets (operated by Ampol Retail/Calstores) that has just recently expanded into Melbourne.
Came across these potential Woolworths concepts that I assume are pre 2007 rebrand.
This image comes from an October 2018 issue of retail magazine but I canât actually find the article itâs from.
Could see them using the 2D variant in the future.
Some of those concepts look very dated even for 2007 standards!
Jeez theyâre awful and yes very dated looking
While I donât mind the current logo they have I still think the previous logo is much better and most of those potential logos they considered for the re-brand arenât exactly appealing either.
Lot more easier to see than the ones my local has now.
Always pay with my own money, I never touch credit/pay later. If I donât have it, then I donât have it (which is really never).
Most in the general population would complain when their products likely double in price. With globalisation, thereâs a reason manufacturing moved to China, Bangladesh etc. through the â90/00s - lower cost for the same output, and no doubt a better profit margin also within the business. People can vote with their money.
The old Safeway logo from the eighties is a better sight.
Hey donât laugh, pay with cash and get five times the advertised saving!
Found the Case Study video from Hulsbosch after image searching the concept logos picture, the video features some of those and the design process:
Wasnât there a recent change to âAustraliaâs Fresh Food Peopleâ
Todayâs Fresh Food People as of this week, which is a blast from the past really (so, so many brands added the prefix âTodayâsâ in the 90âs).
According to Logopedia, this slogan was used from 2012 until 2014:
They reverted back to the previous slogan in the same year:
They also did a alternative variant similar to the 90s logo at that time too:
I miss the Coles Orb as well as the âServing You Betterâ tagline, Least the âServing You Betterâ campaign had much better advertising than they have had the last 10 years or so.
I remember a commercial in the 90s with Lisa McCune, âif we have more than 3 people in line we will open another registerâ
These days there isnât any staff that exist to open that register.
Reminds me of Masters Home Improvement who did something with those services buzzers you push âwe will be there in xx amount of timeâ. They ditched it soon after.
While the Serving You Better/Save Everyday ads were better than the terrible campaigns weâve had to endure from Coles over the last decade, Iâm pretty sure Woolworths was still the market leader (and had better ads than Coles) during the Early-Mid 2000s?
Coles had campaigns where on weekends every checkout was open. It was generally before Easter or other events.
Canât say I recall any early-00s Woolworths ads (besides their annual Easter one)
Woolworths lost ground in 2008 when Coles imported Ian McCleod. The regained that lost momentum when Woolworths moved on Grant O Brien, and gave Brad Bandicci the job and they have been market leader ever since.
Woolworths got distracted with Masters and attempt to raise margins in its Supermarket while Coles slashed sealed their fate. BIGW also was falling apart in the background.
