Priceline used to be the cheapest but Chemist Warehouse undercuts them now. There are some things that are cheaper at other chemists so sometimes it’s worth shopping around but Chemist Warehouse is usually the cheapest.

I’ve never had a click and collect from CW take longer than 2 hours. Very efficient. Most are 30mins some minutes. My Kmart and Bigw orders can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days.

Absolutely not - when i get antibiotics its $6.50 at CW for the generic (as a private buyer) and my local Priceline charges me $11.99 for the generic… she has done it for $8 before but for $8-9, I can get the original - so still gouging on that generic product which has a huge markup.

When I emailed head office, they advised not all Priceline Pharmacies need to abide with the rest of the franchises.

Even if they aren’t the cheapest, they will price beat. WIN-WIN.

Even though the franchisees don’t like it but it is bad for the brand to not have consistent prices everywhere especially for prescription products. The customer assumes all Priceline are like that when their not. I would not be happy if I was a Priceline franchisee that was price matching.

sorry

I am late to the conversation, but I feel the existing pharmacy network is a double-edged sword. As nickatnights posted earlier, chemists stock every prescription medicine and in major cities a cluster of several pharmacies around a shopping precinct are common (here in Glen Waverley there is a Chemist Warehouse and three independents within 500 m of each other, plus Priceline Pharmacy inside The Glen), but if you live in a rural town you may only see just one pharmacy. That pharmacy may set high prices and/or have limited opening hours which is inconvenient for people living outside the town.

The limits are extreme protectionism to protect a small number of pharmacists investments. Successive governments have refused to do anything about it because the guild is politically powerful and not afraid of making threats to disrupt availability.

Horrifying.

Some marketing exec is likely convinced that millenials and/or zoomers have a thing for ugly Christmas sweaters and assume that they’ll happily advertise their favourite brand by wearing one.

They are both way overpriced for what is a cheap knock-off of a knitted woollen jumper.

Aldi are testing a convenience store format

It looks like an extension of the Aldi Local stores in London that were launched in 2019, rather than copying Coles and Woolworths.

It was discussed on here about a year ago that Big W was rumoured to be planning to close its store in Mirrabooka in Perth.

As of July 2021, no Big W stores have shut in WA. I would suggest Phoenix, Kingsway and Warnbro would be likely to go under any rationalisation.

Shopping Centre News this morning reports that long term owner Perron has sold The Square Mirrabooka to Melbourne based Fawkner Property for $195 million. They went onto say that all major anchor tenants are performing significantly above benchmarks. Interesting to see if Big W will keep Mirrabooka or not.

Perron also owns other centres including Belmont Forum and Cockburn Gateway and has a share in the Vicinity operated Galleria.

Kingsway will still be around and Warnbro opened not long ago, I think it will be Phoenix, Riverton and Kwinana that will close.

Don’t understand this whole Christmas in July thing.

I hope they don’t close the Phoenix store. I actually quite enjoy it even though its a little long in the tooth especially with the Gateways store not that far away. If it did I wouldn’t be shocked if they put a K-Mart there.

There’s no indication whatsoever that they’re closing any WA stores, the post above listing stores are just opinion with no basis in fact / evidence.

I assume it’s for people who grew up in the northern hemisphere and associate Xmas and winter.

…or have grown up with all that “Christmas = Snow” media from the Northern Hemisphere.

Then again, is Australian life in general depicted very well in the media? I reckon most people overseas would associate this country with the outback or coast when in reality, the majority of us reside in and have our lives centred around suburban areas.
