Same, especially when there’s heaps of mirrors in the store.

Not helping this vampire claim, am I?

The mods are all vampires, aren’t we?

Reverse vampires, in association with the Rand Corporation.

Amazed that it’s taken until 2019 for JB to relocate that store elsewhere considering the accessibility issues and age of the fit out (and kind of funny that it’s in a location that was once home to a Dick Smith).

Assume they’ll have Enex and Forrest Chase and eventually do away with the Piccadilly store as well.

Same here . No accessibility for people in wheel chairs at all given how small and rediciolous the layout is.

It will be interesting to see if they consolidate all three store into one big one it would make perfect sense the having 3 jb stores competing next to each other.

I did read somewhere that JB plans to close two stores later this year, don’t know where though. Brisbane and Perth CBDs do appear to be overserviced with 3 stores each though, possibly Sydney as well with 5 stores, plus a 6th one at Oxford Street.

Why do they have so many in the main Sydney cbd area ? I just don’t get it. Does Melbourne have two I can’t remmeber I know there was one on Elizabeth street but it extended to a different toad from the inside …

I should really know this as I’m a Melbourne city fanatic (yes hate Perth lol) :joy::joy:

Four in the CBD. Elizabeth St, Bourke St, Melbourne Central and a specialist camera store on Elizabeth Street. Also at the South Wharf shopping centre just across the river.

JB also has a computer store on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne, three doors down from the camera store.

Apparently 30 Big W stores are tipped to close sooner rather than later:

Of particular interest to me will be if these stores in bold are closed:

NSW
Inverell, NSW
Armidale, NSW
Tamworth, NSW
Muswellbrook, NSW
Cessnock, NSW
Singleton NSW
Mudgee, NSW
Erina, NSW
Dubbo, NSW
Richmond, NSW
Katoomba, NSW
Bonnyrigg, NSW
Liverpool, NSW
Bathurst, NSW
Orange, NSW
Parkes, NSW
Tweed Head, NSW

I know people who’d be lost without Big W - there’s no Kmart anywhere in the Upper Hunter, the nearest is Maitland or Tamworth. They keep thinking either Singleton or Muswellbrook will get a Kmart and keep putting up petitions to that effect, but I can’t see it happening.

Surprised to see Big W Tamworth in the list.

Could probably say the same about Dubbo and Orange.

You’d think that would at least one of those towns would be big enough to sustain a Big W store.

I am guessing we have online shopping to blame for all of this.

I for one rarely do online shopping. I prefer to support local bricks and mortar stores, and you have that local after sales support for some piece of mind,

That article has no basis of fact, all they’ve done is a produce a list of regional stores and use an industry analysts forecast to “assume” that these stores might be on the list.

I doubt they’ll get rid of all of the regional stores, I’m sure some of them perform well and others don’t, and they’ll dump the ones that don’t.

Absolutely.

You’d think Dubbo and Orange could support a Big W. I think it goes to prove Big W was/is run by idiots who could not have forseen Kmart’s decent run.

Although it wouldn’t overly surprise me if one of these two Big W stores closed down given the relatively close proximity, who in their right mind says that Liverpool and Bonnyrigg are regional locations? Both are well within the Sydney metropolitan area boundaries the last I checked!

I find there is bugger all Big Ws near me in inner west Sydney. I’d like some choice other than Kmart here in Ashfield…and Marrickville…and Burwood. Nearest Big W to me is Campsie, and it’s a pain to get to without a car (and occasionally with a car).

Yes when I used to live in the inner west I had to travel to Rockdale or Macquarie Centre to get to Big W on public transport.

I just dismayed my mother in law by telling her Erina Big W might be closing. Then she forget there is one in Tuggerah anyway…for now.

I remember Target when I was a uni student at Bathurst…thank god for Big W at that time!

Young would have nothing if Big W closed - Target Country didn’t renew their lease last year. Scone would be buggered if those two Big Ws AND Target Country closed.

I feel sorry for those in Bendigo and Shepparton.

IT would br very sad to see Bunbury Big w close down. This would mean that there will be zero Big W stores in Regional WA, although Mandurah will still have one.
