Supermarkets and Retail (2015-2025)

Looks like as if the place was bordered up and cordoned off. Get rid of those gates. Hopefully this does not roll out to other stores. It better be a trial and it fails miserably.

Doesn’t look high enough to deter shoplifters either, which I assume is part of the reason for why they are there.

Country Road to shut stores in Sydney

I would argue that they have made some really odd decisions in what to stock in the last couple of years ehich would have impacted sales.

They used to have some classic clothing items like shirts and t-shirts that people bought again and again, year after year. They seem to have dropped these in favour of clothes with strange designs and textures which are neither classic or fashion forward. Just ugly.

Here’s hoping they will add Menswear in the future.

However Country Road is opening more stores elsewhere in Sydney.

“We are committed to delivering great experiences throughout our networks and we are investing in our stores, with 10 new or refurbished stores opening by the end of the year.

“This includes our beautifully renovated Mosman store reopening in September, a new Country Road flagship store in Queen Street, Brisbane opening in August and three new stores opening in Chatswood Chase in October,” said the spokesperson.

As part of Chatswood Chase’s redevelopment, the group will be opening a Country Road, a Trenery and a Witchery store.

Yes, but refurbished not new.

Meta falsely accuses Gold Coast business owner of child exploitation and suspends her accounts after she posted a video of her dogs

Rochelle Marinato, the founder of Pilates World, has spent 12 years building her brand which sells Pilates reformers and equipment.

But the single mother-of-four’s business quickly crippled after she posted a video of three dogs looking out of a window on her personal account on June 28.

Ms Marinato received an email from Instagram which stated the post breached community standards on ‘Child sexual exploitation, abuse and nudity’.

Ms Marinato appealed the suspension, but it was assessed by Meta AI and denied before both were permanently disabled.

After sending emails to Meta more than 20 times without receiving a reply, Ms Marinato engaged a third party to recovered the Instagram accounts, which was successful.

R.I.P. Big W at Keysborough Parkmore in Victoria

One month too late, but it’s official. October 26 of 2025 will mark the date that the store will cease trading as the lease has not been renewed. I hope that store will reopen at Dandenong Plaza as the old Target site has been vacant for 3 or 4 years.

A better view of the entry gates, along with the view of the new exit.

Is Broadmeadows one of the rougher parts of Melbourne? With a lot of shop lifting? Would explain the gates.

Enex has officially opened its doors as Perth’s first urban-commercial village following a $40 million transformation.

Owned by ISPT, the landmark CBD redevelopment has been defined by two new distinct spaces — a City Canteen and Central Lounge. The spaces have been designed to blend retail and functional amenity to create a mixed-use area with the capacity to seat more than 400 people and deliver a one-of-a-kind CBD experience.

Inviting hungry customers in through Hay Street Mall, the City Canteen defines the energy of the new urban-commercial village, reconnecting the retail mall with the city’s core business strip through the building’s new light-filled glass façade on St Georges Terrace.

Complementing the City Canteen’s vibrant energy is the epicentre of Perth’s urban-commercial village, the Central Lounge, which acts as a conduit to seamlessly connect Enex’s premium retail space with the City Canteen. The Central Lounge will provide a breakout space for the people of Perth to relax and connect through an abundance of casual seating.

Supermarkets are selling standard 180-gram milk chocolate blocks for about $8.

Two years ago, the same chocolate blocks sold for about $6.

Yet Colesworth can have them half price every other week. So someone, somewhere along the chain is either blatantly ripping consumers off or absorbing the cost. I know what I have my money on. (Pardon the pun)

It’s interesting that their small chocolate bars are $2.50 but every week they are reduced to either 2 for $4, “½ price” $1.25 or even “better than half price” $1.20/$1.

Unfortunately we’ll probably see more stores close and less leases renewed for Big W, they’ve had a pretty poor performance within the past year or so.

I hope they keep Big W going - prefer them to K-friggin-mart,

Although, I really do wish “customers” stop opening up packages and “inspecting” packages and leave items out of the box and on the shelf. I was looking for a stick vaccum and the one I was looking for, there was no complete ones on the shelf, just multiple empty boxes and items all over the joint. Bloody western Sydney bogan scum.

Right now, David Jones has 40 stores across Australia and NZ and with the news that Marks and Spencer products is now available for sale at 24 David Jones stores, imagine if the remaining 16 stores were to be converted into M&S stores with more brick and mortar being opened up.
