When Lidl pulled out of their plans to open supermarkets here in Australia, I guess they had other plans.

Seems like Coles and Aldi (beats most by 1 cent) have matched these longer term price drops on home brand items that Woolworths launched this week. BIGW carries a whole bunch of these Woolworths lines too but donât appear to have dropped prices with them.
They promised to hold until 2026 but it would be good for the market if these became permanent and more widespread across the board. Iâm sick of relying on these 10% EDR offers be it with the mobile phone or extra card, be good to just go in and shop with lower shelf prices.
And for the love of god, please ditch these stupid dishwashing tablet 1/2 price offers. Fooling nobody with $70/$80 full price tablets then half price every second week. Annoys me. Who the heck spends $75 on dishwasher tablets lol. They wonder why people are trading down to home brand items with gimmicks like that in play.
The new measures, which are set to come into force from July 1, will outlaw certain ingredients, flavours and accessories.
For example, menthol, rum and clove-favoured cigarettes and those with crush balls in the filter will be banned.
Cigarette manufacturers will also be banned from using words like âsmoothâ and âgoldâ because they can create the false impression that some products are less harmful.
The new rules will also force all cigarettes to be consistent in their size and shape, with unique filters banned.
If they were doing something about the glut of illegal tobacco currently for sale, maybe those new regulations might have some teeth.
The high-profile boss of independent South Australian grocery chain Drakes Supermarkets has released an explosive statement to call out the vile racial abuse inflicted on a junior staff member.
The supermarket chain shared a social media post promoting a current competition, only for the pictured staff member to be targeted with more than 50 comments filled with racist words and memes.
That prompted a fiery response from chain owner John-Paul Drake.
âI said, âFâ offâ, this is not acceptable behaviour,â he said.
Drake condemned the perpetrators as âkeyboard warriorsâ hiding behind âanonymous, fake accounts and writing the most obscene thingsâ.
âWe will do whatever it takes to look after our team,â he said.

Iâve also heard plenty of reports about elitist staff who will brush off anyone not spending big money, presumably because the commission isnât as good.
I know for me, there is one dealer i go to when i upgrade because when i brought my first bike (a $5500 brand new Suzuki Burgman scooter) they treated me like i was buying a $40,000 Harley (another brand i expect to go bust in the next5 to 10 years tbh). Iâve probally sent $100,000 in that store now all up when you tally up new bikes, gear, consumables and servincing.
