Super Radio Network

There was a time when Graeme used to win its timeslot on 2HD.

For example, back in Surveys 2 & 3 of 2008, 2HD scored 21.4% in the Evenings timeslot, a little ahead of the Hot 30 Countdown on NX (now Hit) who scored around 20%. In the overall ratings, 2HD used to score around the 15% share, a far cry from what it rates today (around 4%).

Music is a good move because with the upcoming election it’s becoming a hard listen .

On the drive home from work the other night i stuck it on 2HD and it was basically wall to wall music. The web site says Talk Overnight but it was basically just automated music with ad breaks inserted. Also the news at the top of the hour was about 3 minutes late

What night was it? I think Saturday nights are music now?

Friday night going into Saturday Morning

Music on nights now, because they’re all sick,(sick and tired) of the silly calls and political lobby groups that bomb 2hd as free exposure. The network could use the callers as content but fact checks have to done.

Today’s example is caller matt, there’s only 2 burger shops in chatswood. Every thing is asians.

Absolutely bs Chatswood has multiple burger joints but the host doesn’t care. 2sm is just galileo movement rubbish.

G’day

TMFM has ran music over weekends (excluding football commitments) since TMFM converted last June from AM. We’ve had some excellent feedback from the audience about the changes and the additional localism… Hope you enjoy it as well now we are streaming to a global audience!

It made my drive back to Brisbane most enjoyable.

I was cringing at the thought of having to listen to the 2SM networked stuff once I lost coverage of 2NM. I know your hands are tied for the most part but scaling back the talkback even more would be awesome.

Sadly 2AD were on the network feed so had to hold out until I came into range for The Breeze.

If you ask me music makes it an improvement. Though i thought they might have been reluctant to do that since they have a music station in their stable in New FM

Belinda Sanders joins 4WK Breakfast

Queensland’s Darling Downs is about to get a new wake-up call, with experienced broadcast journalist Belinda Sanders joining Wayne ‘Kramer’ Forbes on 4WK Breakfast from next week.

Sanders has a long association with the ABC Toowoomba, having worked as a senior journalist and news editor as well as coaching, training and mentoring junior staff over her 23 years with the national broadcaster.

NewFM have updated their show schedule on their website.

Interesting that the workday announcer (Dave Wright) starts at 10:45am each day, but 10:30am on Wednesdays (might be an error here), but that’s due to their 105 Minute Music Marathon.

Also interesting that in drive, Ari & Krivo run from 3pm till 8pm each weekday (except Fridays at 7pm). That’s a marathon of a show. I’m assuming they must play back-to-back songs during the show.

4WK have a new breakfast co-host ex-ABC Belinda Sanders joining Kramer.

Looking at her recent videos on 4WK’s Facebook page, it seems to be skewed towards an older format breakfast show. Could/is this cannibalising the audience of sister “older talkback” station 4AK?

Quite an interesting market, as mentioned many times in the past - with both stations mainly on AM.

IMO, I would run 4WK as a classic hits/music station (local log) and leave the local news & talk for 4AK. That way, both could still skew older, but cater to a slightly different audience.

2DU turns 90, 2LM looking for past staff ahead of their milestone

2DU in Dubbo began broadcasting on Friday 3rd July 1936. It was the foundational radio station purchased by Walter Grant in 1942, leading to the creation of Grant Broadcasters. Bill Caralis and the Super Radio Network took over ownership in 1987, That was the second station for the then Broadcast Operations after Bill bought 2RG in Griffith in 1982.

Next up for the SRN is 2LM Lismore‘s 90th birthday on September 21.

2LM started on 900kHz and are still transmitting on that frequency to this day. 90 years and no changes to frequency. I don’t think any other station in Australia has come close to my knowledge, ABC or commercial.

Not a great day for Super Radio Network. NEWFM was a diabolical result and 2HD just as bad.

Will be interesting how the management spins this.

Richard King has shed 6000 listeners since mid-2024. Wow.

Brent Bultitude’s actual figure looks bad, but the listenership has sort of nearly held

Cheralyn D’arcey number looks ok until you look at the reality -her audience has more than halved since she took on nights. Down to 5k. Only. Faaaark.

Scary thing is NEWFM and 2HD have streaming figures fully included for the first time too. What’s the answer ? I don’t enjoy 2RE as much anymore especially 8pm-7am & weekends when I usually listen (shift work). Our local stuff up here is ok and we don’t get Richard King.
