2hd just got a revamp of new screens and phone system (which failed so got turned off) so who knows but whatever happens it happens very slowly.

A talkback radio station without phones is the radio station equivalent of a pub with no beer

2MG now streaming

Good news. They play some good music in the afternoons (assuming that’s still local).

Nice one! Let’s hope the likes of 2RE, Cruze FM, Now FM follow.

What app are they on? Or is it off the website only.

It’d be off the website, but someone will find the link, post it somewhere and you can add to whatever app you like and go nuts with it.

Try this.

I love how you can hear that a mobile phone was lost in Aldi Mudgee. That doesn’t happen on Sydney commercial radio.

Been listening to 2MG online on and off over the past couple of days.
Something that stood out was that they are now local with a 70s program on Sunday morning.
At midday, I expected to hear what normally goes out over the network…but no!
After midday, a locally hosted music program… it’s hard to tell if it’s live or voice tracked (my guess is voice tracked)… but in this day and age, for a small station to stay local on Sunday afternoon is quite impressive!

I remember when 2RE cut their local Sunday mornings a few years back… there was a lot of uproar in Taree over it. The response from 2RE was that it was a decision from Sydney (Bill) and they had no say in it.
By the looks of it, stations may be getting some freedom back over local programming which can only be a good thing

Automated music is so much more suited to an FM format than the talkback crap from 2SM.

Bravo 2MG. How much networked stuff do they still take?

Chris Smith, Nights and overnights. They’re promoting the NRL call for later today - not sure what time that starts.

Being an fm station that’s a good move, probably not as good on am, maybe the network is finally seeing that not everyone wants to hear the same whatsapp conspiracy club rambling all weekend . Some of the callers have been toxic lobbyists for decades, Amen.

Quiet a few of the heritage stations are on FM these days… hopefully a sign of things to come. While there was nothing extraordinary about the music… just the run of the mill classic hits, it was so much better than talkback.
The announcer this afternoon sounded familiar, then he I.D. himself as Cam - it the announcer on 2HC Brekky and Grafton. And to clarify, it was a shift for 2MG… with Mudgee references and mentions of local programs.
Maybe we’ll see the sharing of announcers between markets on weekends moving forward.

Interesting that Cam does that but can’t even get his own heritage station sounding that good. Everytime I visit home I get more and more disappointed with 2GF/SRN

Cam is quite a busy man in my neck of the woods

He does the following

  • Presents ‘The Breakfast Club’ on 2HC from 6 - 9am
  • Pre-records news updates for ‘The Wake Up’ on FM1047
  • Presents ‘The Drive Home’ on FM1047 from 2 - 5pm

So the fact that Cam is also filling in on other stations is surprising. He did fill in for Tess on ‘The Wake Up’ a few months back.

I feel like Cam is doing a good job.. Just partially SRN with 2GF that’s eh.

Both TMFM and 92.9 Tamworth are promoting something big “coming soon” but then also say it’s happening on June 1st

Well at least it’s not April 1st.

(Let’s hope it’s streaming, maybe).

Probably just a new competition or something?

Wouldn’t be the first time a station has hyped up something that turned out to be rather minor.

It would be good if it’s streaming. They should also be made available on the RadioApp.
