Matt Roberts either can’t read a phone number or is , 2sm most useful idiot the same caller for hours.and matt can’t work it out. Srn needs a white board with idiots = play music.
I am Listening too on 2RE. Bloke must have cut off 5 callers already.
I’ve said this three times before - radio station doesn’t have someone at the front line taking calls like every other station in the world (probably), then this is what happens Hey, as long as they are hiring person after person in middle management on $100k plus , then that’s ok
Can the host see the phone numbers ? Or are they private numbers ? Can they tell ?
Or does it light up and it’s pot luck and callers can say what they want
But that’s how they fill their air time very quickly and very cheaply - let the idiots call in.
I’d like to call in professing my desires for a three-way with Sabrina Carpenter and Sydney Sweeney wearing pretty much nothing whilst Radiohead watches in the cuck chair…but even I’m not that stupid. ![]()
Yes they definitely can see the numbers and email addresses etc, it’s against the code to broadcast them though, which lawsie got burned for in the past.
I have been contacted by various networks after sending a text. But if your part of the program, you expect a cheque, .not a check.
I’m not going to google any of that for my own feed safety.
It could be the ph system they are using. Gone are the days of landlines (POTS). The telcos today would like you to think a simple VOIP to POTS box will make your old analogue PABX happy (to work with the new VOIP lines). The sad fact is they do work, but it’s not a happy marriage. Plus most callers are on a mobile phones today which doesn’t help!
I was travelling through 2RE on Sunday night and listened for 5 mins.
As I had someone else on the car chatting away, I wasn’t listening intently, but the call I heard was some guy, talking about origin energy and conspiracies… and the caller was going around in circles. In The end, Matt told him he had a minute to get to the point… the caller started raving on, repeating what he’d already said, and Matt said something along the lines of “nope…that’s it…see you later”.
It sounded like a train wreck!
Random talk on a Sunday night will never end well! Full of loonies!
I think they should go with a decent music program - something that is appointment listening, with a knowledgeable music host… something like Gold’s “This Week In Music” or the 20/20 countdown, but spread out over 6 hours. Music focused without taking phone calls!
I think this has a lot of merit. For example, I had my doubts about the Saturday music show, but it’s been a smash and the host is upbeat, knowledgeable and fun.
People tune in, on purpose, and they know what they are going to get. With talkback, I guess you never know , as the hosts often find.
And this is where you end up with guys like Mike James taking 25 - 35 minutes calls with callers that surely everyone else must roll their eyes at. Or Brent Bultitude, who barely seems to have any calls at all. But he has staff I guess?
Of course, from what you all tell me , Cheralyn Gary Matt etc don’t have a gatekeeper like the other presenters do.
Brent has probably realised over the years that if you want a solid show, you need to cut out the desperation of putting completely random callers on the air.
The complete opposite happens come 3pm with Takin’ Sport which seems to only take callers with the rare interview.
Sadly I think the presenters on Talkin’ Sport only watch bits and pieces of certain sports so proper interviews would be really hard.
At times when I’ve heard callers asking questions about certain games or sports (things which are common knowledge) you can clearly tell the presenters have no idea what they’re talking about.
If the newly appointed content director is a serious position this is their starting point along with bedding in a proper weekend lineup.
Worse than random are the regular axe grinders ,imagine hearing the same commentary day after day for months.( Don’t get that on ABC talk.)
Groundhog day needs to end, some of the worst callers have been booted or limited, now how to get balance from 9to12 ?
I’ve stopped listening to Talkin’ Sport but I did enjoy their program for a few years . Is there a future for it on the super radio network ?
Or should that be left to SEN and stations should pursue local content perhaps
Barely any interviews , that’s the big thing I notice . There doesn’t seem to be a lot of sports knowledge outside of one or two sports (and that’s debatable!) and fart jokes that last for 90 minutes.
Is more interviews the answer or has the show run its course .Th show still airs on our station
I feel it’s definitely time to move on. The other alternative is a drastic reduction in time, perhaps a 1 hour show from 6-7pm.
Just change it from Talkin’ Sport to Talkin’ Shit and it fits perfectly.
It may or may not get called that by some people within SRN stations ![]()
Does not surprise me.
The old website for 98.3 Now FM Moree and 2TM 1287 (Now TMFM 95.5) Tamworth just shows me the Website Blocked message via Telstra and the website blocked page is unsecure. Anyone else get this?
Also the only thing the Max 107.3 Taree, 105.3 NEW FM Newcastle and 100.9 ZZZ FM Lismore website needs is the listen live button, just like the Bathurst commercial radio stations and 2SM 1269 Sydney.
Of course a SRN website would get hacked…
