Super Radio Network

Goodness help us when Radio97 convert and change their station name to something silly…

They might follow 2TM and call it MW FM (Medium Wave FM!? Though I know it refers to Murwillumbah).

Yeah Mount Mowballan gives it a bit of a hiding in some spots

Albert Shire. Now that takes me back. I can remember my grandfather complaining about the merger of Albert Shire and GC City Council 30 years ago.

I have a DX aircheck of Albert Shire tourist radio in my collection- mid 90s from memory. I think it was on 87.7.

A great get for BOG FM stations with Dave Wright now hosting NewFM & FM network workdays.

Dave Wright - NEW FM

Also, given The Novo’s are now live at Drive at NewFM, does this mean their networked drive show is also now live 4-5pm weekdays?

yes it’s good to hear Dave on NewFM workdays, but he has been at 2HD/NewFM for a while, so it’s not really a new get for them as he was doing talk shifts on 2HD.

I can’t answer about Ari & Krivo being live on the network from 4-5pm but I’d imagine so?
Moving Ari & Krivo to Drive, NewFM got a bonus as Ariana also reads the news for the drive shift, she is/was a journalist before joining the NewFM Novos Breakfast team.

That’s silly. So, like how Erin Molan would read the news on 2DayFM Breakfast whilst being part of the team?

I can never figure out why people do that. Cost cutting?

As for Dave Wright, I was referring to how he’s new to the permanent line-up. Most NewFM weekend announcers are just casuals are they not?

They do that on Smooth as well

Credit where credit is due… I think 2NZ have the best SRN station logo. It doesn’t look lame or dated. And of course, the 2SM logo is also pretty strong IMO.

Good news! How is 95.5 sounding/looking there? Decent sound quality? Is their RDS showing song / other info?

Just monitored 1287 as the Skywave is just beginning to come in down here and it may have been switched off, only thing I was getting on it was Newstalk ZB Westport.

As good as compressed mono talkback can sound…

They do have some music shifts during the day parts too (like 2RE).

And the networked music (when played, and other bits and pieces) such as at nights is in stereo on other SRN stations too.

That’s odd if so? I thought they were required to run messages or simulcast on AM for up to 4 weeks to advise listeners of the change after the ‘test’ transmissions were completed (which was yesterday).

Maybe they think the testing period was the switchover period? They were mentioning 95.5 every time they said the station name.

I think that could only work if they had been saying on 1287 for the last 4 weeks that the station was moving to 95.5 from Monday 16 June. As it was meant to be a ‘test’ period there could be no guarantee that it WOULD happen.

95.5 has been on air in simlecast with 1287 for the mandatory 28 dsys and in all that time with mesages saying to switch over now as 1287 will cease transmission on June 16th.
