Sunrise

David getting a lot of opportunities and coverage recently.

Should Shirvo be worried?? I imagine David would probably cost a lot less….

All this speculation is annoying and ridiculous. Shirvo is taking the holidays that are owing to him, just like Nat did recently when Monique filled in for her. Would Nat be worried about her job? No. Should Shirvo be worried about his job? No.

Seven would be grateful to have David and Monique fill in for their regular Sunrise hosts and not lose any viewers. They would also be grateful to have strong Weekend Sunrise hosts.

I don’t think they would want to do anything to rock the boat when they are having successful wins in the ratings every day of the week.

True! I’m only saying that is it is a very entertaining and easy to watch lineup when it does happen!

That’s good. It actually keeps it interesting to mix it up a bit. Probably becomes a bit stale when the same hosts only have each other to bounce conversations off. It’s good that they have the flexibility to have different views and opinions heard.

The risk is for 7 really, that 9 really have nobody to succeed Karl.

When Kochie left they had Shirvo, Doran and Usher all as top contenders. Then Doran left and who would have though Woiwood would work so perfectly.

Surely Woi is now looking good as a potential replacement for Karl. And as we know, Woi and Abo are good mates. That’s a dream team waiting to happen.

Seven wouldn’t let it happen. I’m sure they will lock him in, long term.

Couldn’t agree more. There’s only two real potential candidates that are actually capable of replacing Karl and that is James Bracey and David Woiwood.

7 are just so much better at fostering and keeping talent. They have a huge stable of likeable stars from Sunrise all the way through to the nightly news and primetime. They have strength in numbers too, no one really outshines the other but just a solid group of presenters. 9 spend too much time and energy focusing on King Karl and Eddie and now Ally that they forget to build up a team around them

Are Sarah and David friends? I’ve must’ve missed that bit along the way but would be a good team for sure.

instead of looking at David for the replacement - which would be great - 9 would be crazy not to train up the “next Karl” on weekend today. But it goes back to the original problem - who???

Either way right now - every Sunrise combo tends to work so well (although Nat and David is my favourite!)

I remember seeing Sarah share a insta story a while back of the two of them doing the Bondi to Bronte walk.

And then they were on radio the other week talking about when David went to Sarah’s wedding.

Nine have stolen from Weekend Sunrise before, to great success, with Lisa Wilkinson.

Mark’s father passed away on the weekend, so this may explain what was going on last week. I think both parents have been facing cancer battles.

Did anyone else catch the new promo for Weekend Sunrise this morning? It was short. It looked news (well I hadn’t seen it!) not sure the show has ever had a promo like that before - could be wrong.

There’s always a short promo on Fridays/Saturdays for the weekend shows, but the end board is new with Mon and David at the desk.

…but as we saw with David there are often unexpected candidates who end up working very well, no?

It just seems that Nine is less adept at identifying talent in this area than Seven.

Far better, like the last one when Matt Doran was on (but that had the whole team).

1 minute version - generic.

Now this is a Sunrise Promo. I’m surprised Mon is moving on from Doran. The chemistry on Woiwood and Wright is just right.
