Sunrise (2020-Feb 2025)

Even if it follows a similar design language, all screens and no real windows will be a significant change visually.

Also the current set isn’t exactly world-leading so they’d be stupid to keep too much when they have an opportunity to move forward.

I’m hoping they’ll have some big slabs of virtual windows - which could show exterior scenes during Sunrise/Morning Show and be switched to a newsroom scene for news bulletins (and even location graphics during special events/coverage).

They might go down the ITV This Morning path and project the view on screens behind but with a new fresh set hopefully

I got worried when you said that, until I read the rest of your post :frowning_with_open_mouth:

It might actually be the perfect time. The new host might detract from the fact they’ve got a new set.

According to The Australian:

• Matt Shirvington will be announced as Kochie’s replacement tomorrow
• Kochie is a strong advocate of Shirvo, having taken the time to mentor him about breakfast television
• Kochie’s 2-year contract with Seven, signed at the end of 2022, had always planned for him to leave Sunrise around the middle of 2023
• June 9 departure date was worked out about a month ago

So here we go this week/tomorrow. Like huge kudos to Kochie right there. Being on Brekkie TV for 21 years. Probably people will remember him as a household name

Contradicting yourself. So are you now believing The Australian over Annette Sharp?

I’m just stating what was said in The Australian’s report. I never said I believed it.

So you still believe Annette Sharp?

The Shirvo thing is so interesting. Shirvo and Nat for breakfast is so interesting. Kochie leaving is so interesting. The move out of Martin Place is so interesting.

Lots of interesting times to come in breakfast tv land.

So when do you reckon what time they will announce the new co-host next to Nat.

To put it simple: it’s a new era for Sunrise.

New host, and new studio. After having the same host for two decades, and same studio for almost as long.

@yellow_sock Fair point right there. They have witness it all in that studio/building. But it’s a shame the crowd won’t have a experience anymore at Martin Place.

I think they could announce it in the 8:00am block - possibly after the weather update at the top of the hour. This is in the same manner that Kochie announced his departure at that point of the bulletin last Monday.

Off course they’ll announce it towards the end. And no doubt they’ll tease it all morning to keep viewers tuned in. 101 marketing.

8.10?

More like 8.50… make everyone late for work

But do they get a “crowd” there any more? I’ve walked past there on the way to work in recent times and nobody is there at the windows these days.

So when are they due to move then? Will Nat likely get a break before they relaunch the show, or will they make all the changes this time next week?
