Why would they go to the expense of crewing a studio on the weekend for the guy? Is he that special? Is Bianca Stone still the Brisbane Sunrise reporter? Was she meant to shift aside to accommodate him?
The guy was on a lucrative contract for decades. Hard to have much sympathy for him when he was already being paid big bucks to do not a lot while others connected to Seven are now surviving on food vouchers and JobKeeper.
Never said he wasn’t. I clearly stated the question of whether he was a contractor or an employee is an interesting one. None of us is privy to the agreement he had with Seven. I hope he gets whatever he is entitled to.
If they didn’t utilise him to “do a lot”, that’s not his fault. Same re. Mel Doyle. There seems to be a lack of appreciation in media for company loyalty ATM.
Sure others are much worse off in this pandemic, but under employment law everyone has the right to their full entitlements- wealthy or not.
Simon isn’t alone here. 10 fly Lisa Wilkinson to Melbourne and used to fly Denise Scott and Denise Drysdale to Sydney just recently. 7 have done the same for Basil Zempilas, Sharyn Ghidella, Andrew O’Keefe on a regular basis too for Sunrise duties.
Never said he wasn’t. Again. We don’t know anything about the agreement he had with Seven. I hope he gets whatever he is entitled to. The court proceedings will determine what, if anything, he is entitled to.
He was the sports guy. A minor role in the scheme of things. Hardly in the same league as the A list talent you mention.
Basil is a sport guy too…
Who obviously has a much larger role at the network. Appointed to the Sunrise host role because the network obviously has bigger plans for him and wanted to give him national exposure.
Ummm.
The papers were lodged in court and included in the evidence is an email to him from the network’s owner. Of course it’s a top story.
Yeah I get that but I would’ve thought something coronavirus related would be the top story at the moment.
Covid is a bit of a lesser story today, plus there’s a lot of audience fatigue on it.
It sure is. I have been avoid watching news the last few weeks because I reached a tipping point.
Is this new? When did this go to air?
I remember Seven would air this as “filler” programming if a movie, sporting broadcast or other program finishes (say) five-to-ten minutes short of either the hour or half-hour, or its scheduled finishing time.
So I wouldn’t say it’s “new”.
Since the 2010 relaunch.
Really? I don’t remember this. How long for?
No idea, must’ve been on and off during that time. But I think Ben Davis may have become secondary sports presenter (if not weekend sports presenter) around 2005ish.
Yeah it can’t have been a regular thing…I’ve been a 7News watcher forever and I can’t recall it… I did live away from 1995-6, but that’s not the timeframe mentioned.
Worried about …?
