Sunday was another big day with FTA television reaching nearly 13 million Australians narrowly won by Seven ahead of Nine shile 10 had its second best Sunday of the year.

That was helped by continued interest in the Federal Election results while ABC debuted a news Sunday line-up. The new series The Piano did well to average 745k. Following was a new series of Bergerac that debuted to 539k. That followed ABC News that topped one million for only the second time this year.

Over on Nine, the Travel Guides visited NT to a national audience of 984k. That was enough to be the top entertainment show of the day but was down almost 200k week-on-week. 60 Minutes then had a timeslot win on 688k, down 100k while The Killer Interview With Piers Morgan did well with 357k. The NRL Sunday Afternoon saw the Panthers easily beat the Broncos averaging 554k

The 1% Club drew another big audience for Seven with 880k , however, that was down 240k from the previous week’s high. It was followed by 7News Spotlight on 626k. Later, 24 Hours In Police Custody debuted outside the top 30. The afternoon AFL that featured Hawthorn big win over Richmond had just under 400k.

MasterChef’s first elimination of the season, provided extra competition for its rivals drawing over 600k. The Matlock double episode season one final that followed was just under 300k and 240k.

Nine News won the 6pm battle while Insiders hit a 2025 high with over one million watching in the morning to be the third most popular show of the day. Earlier Weekend Breakfast had a rare win to be the number one breakfast show just ahead of Weekend Sunrise.

The ABC did pretty well in the morning in the aftermath of the federal election. The debut of The Piano also posted decent figures.

It was actually a new episode of the Aussie version.

Massive result for the ABC in the morning, with an unprecedented victory for News Breakfast over its commercial rivals and over 1m for Insiders, following their huge federal election coverage hours earlier.

Have you got NRL & AFL around the wrong way?

The impact that MasterChef had on the ratings of Travel Guides and The 1% Club really highlights that it should have started on Sunday.

I though the Piano would do well, very suited to an older ABC audience - rating lower than 10 News in 25-54.
