Seven secures a 4-point Sunday win to start the week off the back of a current affairs line-up that was headlined by 7News Spotlight. Seven was up one from the previous week while Nine’s Sunday that featured the final of The Summit and a 60 Minutes special was unchanged. Third-placed 10 was down one, ABC dropped while SBS was up slightly.

It was a very competitive 6pm contest with Seven News just 8k ahead of Nine’s bulletins with Nine winning the three east coast markets.

7News Spotlight’s Bruce Lehrmann interview was an easy timeslot winner and the show’s highest rating episode since July last year when Anthony Albanese was featured. Later, the second part of the Prince Andrew special was just under the 400k mark, up 50k on part one.

For Nine, it was the final of The Summit that managed to get a Winner Announced coding even when the three contestants who reached the summit were revealed near the start of the show. The bulk of the final had 462,000 that was a season high. 60 Minutes that followed had a special on the Ben Roberts-Smith that drew the show’s highest rating in 8 weeks. Earlier, the afternoon’s NRL had its lowest audience since round one.

MasterChef’s latest elimination on 10 was down 10 k week-on-week while The Project’s audience posted an increase.

ABC’s revised Sunday schedule that saw The Messenger bumped to a later timeslot fared worse than the previous week, down one point.

It was the first time in 10 weeks that Weekend Sunrise missed the top 20. Fox League got some good results for Foxtel with two games over 300k.

Lack of AFL especially in Melbourne could be the reason 9 news won in Melbourne

Wow, that gap betwen Foxtel and Nine is massive?

I know there will be all sorts of reasons given here why we cant compare these figures however this is very significant because it shows that more and more people would prefer to pay for something which they could actually just watch on Nine for free

It is a reflection of Nine’s poor coverage

7NEWS Spotlight continues to do very well straight after 7NEWS at 7pm.

Surely they’ll keep it there permanently and have realities on Monday-Wednesday.

They should be watching this very carefully and take notice. If they had a similar program on Monday - Saturday at 7pm they could be onto a winner.

Valid to a point, however problem is we have to wait for the VOZ numbers to see the portion watching through Nine’s online portal.

Yeah we do, but that gap on the overnight figures is definitely growing.

One of the major talking points after Origin was how people had to suffer Nine’s coverage and they even missed parts of the play

(love your logo by the way haha).

The first episode of Million Dollar island looks to be on at 7pm.

7 might be hoping that their news might be get a good figure after the Kings Birthday AFL match & that helps with Million Dollar Island get a good launch

Never a great sign when the latter winner is outranked by the lead-in bulk of episode finale and those numbers are fairly poor for total audience for a tentpole big-budget reality.

I noticed veteran TV writer/former network publicist Colin Vickery questioned online this morning whether it deserved a renewal and could come down to overseas sales, but is this even enough. And like TVCynic’s criticisms had also been regualrly critical of the season.

On paper it looks like it’s done worse than Idol earlier this year (and that show at least pulled through with VOZ numbers). Unless if it sells well I don’t think they can find a way to resurrect the dead duck.

The thing is (i haven’t watched) but once you’ve seen it, surely future seasons would need to be strongly cast as the premise is revealed in season 1, which apparently had every reality twist going.

Same effect as shows like Hunted and the Bridge would need a strong cast

I find the ratings for the daytime tv on Sundays (8am-2.30pm) to be pretty impressive and fairly competitive between the ABC, Seven and Nine.

ABC is the morning/lunch winners, has 5 entries in the top 30: Insiders (9-10am; 10th overall), Offsiders (10-11am; 24th), News at Noon (12-12.30pm; 21st), Landline (12.30-1.30pm; 12th), Gardening Australia (1.30-2.30pm; 29th).

Nine has 2 entries in the top 30: Weekend Today (8am portion: 30th); The Sunday Footy Show (10am AFL Cities/ 11am NRL Cities: 19th)

Seven has 1, with Weekend Sunrise (8am portion; 18th)

I think the point was that if Nine want the format picked up by overseas broadcasters they will have to renew the show. Becasue they are unlikely to get any based on season one’s performance. And not just the ratings; I can believe the reports of the numerous production difficulties including choppering the contestants further up the mountain on two occasions we saw.

When you count regional figures Nine’s numbers above 400,000, with also more than 30,000 watching on 9Now.

Nine has almost double the amount of people watching on 9Now than 7plus, which is an advantage for Nine, which decreases the gap between Seven News and Nine News in overall figures.

Does it, really though? The metro and regional broadcast margins this year between the two have been pretty massive on a daily basis. Sometimes Seven News is 1m metro & 600k regional in audience and some 200k metro and 300k regional in margins.

The fact that Foxtel is even close is incredible

Can you imagine if the Sky breakfast show was outrating Today and Sunrise on the overnight figures?
