The final commitment ceremony of the experiment that is Married At Frist Sight attracted 1.879 million viewers to help Nine to another big Sunday win. The result was 30k lower than the previous week but higher than the combined audience of its commercial rivals.

The Top 8 performed in Australian Idol to average 932k, on par with last week and fourth overall.

Australian Survivor had 423k for a four-week high on 10 while The Piano visited the International Airport, Sydney to slip slightly to 666k. Valley Of The Kings: Secret Tombs Series Premiered on SBS at 7.30pm to 128k.
60 Minutes dominated its time slot with 851k to be steady as Britain’s Got Talent was up to Audition Show 3, down slightly to 466k but good enough to make the top 10. NCIS: Sydney had just 183k.

9News Late did well to get 466k as Can You Keep A Secret? dropped to 337k.

In NRL Sunday Footy the Sharks defeated the Raiders by 12 to average 480k. The afternoon AFL included Melbourne’s comeback victory over Carlton rating 300k and earlier West Coast’s narrow two-point win over Port Adelaide with 218k.

Seven News was 60k ahead of Nine’s 6pm bulletin with both well over 1.3 million.

Insiders had 641k in the morning, while Weekend Sunrise was up 25k to 450k for a 166k margin over Weekend Today that managed 284k

THE 9NETWORK TOPS SUNDAY VIEWING AS MAFS, 9NEWS, 60 MINUTES & SUNDAY AFTERNOON NRL LIVE DOMINATE

  • Married at First Sight was the No. 1 program with Total People and all key demographics across Australia. It was also the No. 1 program with Total People, P25-54 and People 16-39 in all five metro capitals. It achieved a National Total TV Reach of 3.081 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.879 million - up 3.8% year-on-year. On 9Now, it recorded a BVOD audience of 584,000 - up 28.4% when compared to the same day last year.

  • 9News Sunday was the No. 2 program of the night with Total People and all key demos across the 5 City Metro and in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It was also the No.1 news bulletin with People 25 to 54 and People 16 to 39 in Adelaide. The combined national bulletins secured a National Total TV Reach of 2.344 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.338 million . On 9Now, its BVOD Audience of 211,000 was up a massive 73.0% year-on-year.

  • 60 Minutes dominated its timeslot with Total People and all key demographics across Australia. It achieved a National Total TV Reach of 1.899 million , a Total TV National Audience of 851,000 and a BVOD audience of 146,000 - up 32.7% on the same evening last year.

  • Weekend Today recorded a National Total TV Reach of 774,000 , a Total TV National Audience of 284,000 and a BVOD audience of 49,000 – up 44.1% on this day last year.

  • Sunday Afternoon NRL Live dominated its timeslot with Total People and all key demographics across Australia and in Sydney and Brisbane. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 1.103 million , and a Total TV National Audience of 480,000 . On 9Now it registered a BVOD audience of 90,000, up by 47.5% year-on-year.

  • The 9Network was the No.1 network on Sunday across the 5 City Metro with Total People and all key demographics.

  • 9Now was the No.1 CFTA BVOD Platform on Sunday across Australia with Total People and all key demogoaphics.

Nine was able to hold on a decent chunk of the audience across the evening.

That’s very good for 7, given it was only shown in SA & WA (at 9:30am).

300k is very low for the Carlton v Melbourne game and there’s no obvious reason why. I get that they’re not top teams but you’re not going to have something like Brisbane v Collingwood every round.

It’s been an one-way street for NRL this season apart from a single night.

Whenever both codes play against each other, NRL > AFL. It’s just what it is this year.

I’ve been meaning to mention, does it feel like the chatter about Nine’s performance recently seem a little flat, like just a change in vibe?

Married obviously still completely dominating, but I feel we were all more glued to and discussing Nine’s almost clean sweeps across the board from mid-January to about the week after Milano Cortina.

Married hasn’t been able to replicate those 2m+ averages in some time, Today has fallen and we’ve seen TP and Nine News perhaps not be quite as strong vs Seven going up a bit (Sunrise, Chase, news, Idol).

Usual fatigue? Cyclical? AFL arriving?

But yeah the tennis, winter olympics and the first month of Married seemed to be the absolute high and potentially 2026 peak for Nine you’d say.

I get what you are saying. Most aren’t saying much, assuming because “its just another night when Married wins. Not much else to say” sort of thing? Perhaps?

But Married At First Sight is still blitzing it though. Usually double to what Seven has to offer (sometimes more than double on nights when no Idol is on).

It didn’t air in all markets (SA/WA got Port v WC instead). A lot of people may have tuned out after Quarter time when Carlton had kicked 6 goals to Melbourne’s 0. I do think the 5.30pm-6.00pm portion would have rated well leading into the News as word of Carlton’s hilarious collapse spread.

Didn’t air in WA I think. That usually would get around 35-50k. So if it did then it would of been around 340k which is on par with previous weeks

59k is “okay” for the NBL Grand Final for 10 daytime slot, considering regular NBL matches attract miniscule numbers of 10-15k in the same timeslots (going by various posts in here).
