Seven starts the week off well with another Sunday win, having won all Sundays since Easter. Seven’s share was down slightly as the main channel down three, but that was partially made up for by 7Mate’s 4.5% share that was its best for a Sunday this year. Nine’s multis were also up, 10 was steady, ABC up one and SBS down one.

MasterChef was the top entertainment offering of the night, up slightly to its best Sunday since launch while The Summit also was up slightly to a season high. Both featured in the top ranking of the demographics.

However, it was ABC News that won at 7pm followed closely by 7News Spotlight in the earlier timeslot.

Later, 60 Minutes was able to better the Secrets of Prince Andrew special on Seven. Nine News Late then was ahead of The Latest.

Afternoon AFL and NRL numbers were lower than recent weeks. As a news lead-in that was reflected in 6pm numbers being down week-on-week.

I’m guessing because it was coded separately again as just “Sunday Night Football” with only a Brisbane entry? As Adelaide’s had “Multi” attached to its, seeing as the first 2 hours were on the main channel before switching to 7mate due to Seven News local.

Also presuming there was no AFL broadcast in Sydney and Perth yesterday due to the rights agreement (former market would’ve received another game on Saturday for GWS as well as Saturday night & Friday night which was the Swans anyway while the latter market got Fremantle on Saturday, West Coast that night - both Fox Sports productions plus Friday night). @TV.Cynic

Seven won the three AFL markets including Adelaide by 19 with 7Mate the number 2 channel. Nine won NRL markets. Nine won demos. Seven second in 25-54, 10 second in 16-39.

W Sunrise was 55k ahead of W Today and won all markets. News B was 7k behind W Today.

Looks like you’re correct, looking at TV Cynic’s market split ranking tables above.

What results in Adelaide! Top 3 programs were AFL, including one flowing onto 7mate and all outranking even Seven News. With an average over 100,000 viewers and retention essentially from 12:30pm all the way to 7pm. Seven’s day time share would’ve been massive there.

15 NINE NEWS LATE -SUN Nine

I believe Channel Nine aired their late news at 9.30pm last night and it brought in this good result.

Very Interesting.

Don’t they always air their late news around 9.30pm on Sundays?

Late night news has typically been around 10.30pm but the stations are realising that there is a gap in the market at 9.30pm

Last night Seven aired their late news after 10pm and it was well behind Nine.

On the 14th May, Seven aired their news at 9.30pm and got 230,000 blowing Nine out of the park who started much later and didnt make the top 20

Nine News Late usually airs 9:30 - 10.00 pm on Sunday nights - whenever 60 Minutes finishes. The overnight ratings are usually slightly higher than the final numbers due to reality overruns earlier in the night.

However, next Sunday the bulletin is moved to the later 10.30 timeslot and will follow a repeat of Australian Crime Stories.

An co-incidentally (?) The Latest is out of the schedule.

Yes it’s crazy that Seven has taken it out of the schedule when it has performed well

Good opportunity for Nine to cash in

Poor seven last week took a hit in consolidated. Even with Farmer finale. Considering the rest of its schedule was all news related it bled a big share from its main channel.

Summit surprisingly hanging in there after all the complaints last night on twitter.

I have been reading your site for a number of years now.
Not a commercial tv viewer generally.
Olympics, State of Origin, and other major sport and the occasional compelling program, of which there are frankly very few. Obviously reality TV is not for me.
Gave up on commercial tv news many years ago, and now struggling with ABC news, apart from a couple of late night ABC News Channel shows or SBS.
My comment: this site, as with TV Tonight, almost feels like a 7 fan blog, or 10, but definitely anything but 9. I wonder why?
I love the numbers , the differences between cities and states, and understand how viewers become “loyal” as our family did when Brian Henderson read the news on 9 - yes, I am in my late 60’s.
But times have changed. FTA TV doesn’t have the drawing power it once did. Streaming now grabs eyeballs - just completed first series of Succession, brilliant, and yes, slow on the uptake. Foxtel, Netflix and SBS dramas and movies, now account for 80% of our 2.5 hours of, mostly, nightly tv.

I realise they aired in different timeslots last night, but gee, that difference regionally.

Regardless of last night, looking at the past couple of months, not sure if you could call it a ‘weapon’ but Spotlight has definitely been on a roll and doing solid business.

Have I missed something, why is a 10? minute kids program on a multi-channel rating almost as high as Nine News’ 6pm bulletin? Where did the extra 350-400k people come from?

Edit: It has been rating at this level each Sunday since 9 April, what changed?
