Cricket continued to do well in Sunday viewing with the First Test posting its first +1 million average rating for the third and prime time session. That was up 200k on Saturday and up slightly on Friday’s day one result. Session two with 788k was also the highest for this test but session one with 555k outrated day two but was well below the opening session on day one.

The prime time result wasn’t enough for a win, however, with Nine grabbing a narrow 0.3 point victory, up three from last Sunday. Seven dropped by four with 10 up two to its best Sunday share since July while ABC and SBS were steady.

The game provided a good lead in for Seven News that on 1.219 million got a slight 20k boost from last week while the Nine bulletin was down 100k.

Also doing well was 60 Minutes that lifted 70k to 935k for a 7pm episode. The second episode of A Remarkable Place to Die held onto most of its launch audience with 520k only dropping 50k.

Over on ABC, Fisk ended its season with almost 800k, its best result since the first episode of the season. Earlier, Spicks and Specks was lower with 334k.

Dessert Masters concluded its second season last night with an average 415k, the show’s best number since the launch episode. That compared to last season’s finale that was split coded to 549k for the Winner’s Announcement and 461k for the final. It gave The Graham Norton Show that followed a boost to 287k.

Fisk has been quite a successful series. Hopefully the ABC asks for more seasons.

Looks like another run of Gladiator did well on 9Go! pushing Nine’s share, with the new movie also currently in cinemas.

Nine did well to counterprogram against the cricket in prime time. Nine continues to see Brisbane as their best market.

7 are lucky that we don’t have previous years’ ratings for Perth Tests to compare with because this would have to be highly embarrassing. They spend tens of millions on the cricket rights and lose the night with prime time cricket against 60 Minutes and a NZ drama?!

WS up in Adelaide but down in Sydney- funny what a difference what city weather is visiting makes.

Seven News Brisbane now being impacted on weekends it seems.

Am I right that 9’s multichannels gave them the win?

Without knowing the primary shares it can’t be confirmed, however you can deduce some things from the audience margins. I’d say Nine’s main channel did quite well too, as the drama was hundreds of thousands of viewers ahead of WBBL cricket.

They are paying less for these rights than the previous ones & they get 7+. Yes they still spend a lot but it’s cheaper than before
