The Block Main Bedroom & Walk-In-Robe Reveal was up 50k from last week to a new record high for the season at just under 1.5 million. The result helped Nine to a win nationally and in the metro markets.

Meanwhile Seven ran a split schedule thanks to AFL Round 24’s inclusion of a night time game where Brisbane defeated Hawthorn at home on Seven’s main channel in three markets. The game averaged 632k while the afternoon AFL coverage including Fremantle’s 15-point win over the Western Bulldogs had 478k.

Sydney and Perth had The 1% Club rating 442k and 7NEWS Spotlight at 8pm with 261k.

For ABC, Austin dropped 70k to 415k and out of the top 10 while The Family Next Door that followed lost another 45k to 270k. The news drama I, Jack Wright later premiered to 266k.

Survivor Australia v The World had 569k to rank seventh dropping 75k from the season premiere. Later Watson missed the top 30 with just 170k.

Later on Nine, 60 Minutes made the top five despite a 75k drop from the previous episode.

NRL Sunday Footy saw a come-from behind win for the Cowboys over Wests Tigers rating 490k, up 85k week-on-week.

The 6pm news contest was easily won by Nine with a 130k margin. Also at 6pm 10 News+ managed 147k, even with the previous week.

With The Voice not shown last night, some viewers not interested in the AFL flocked to The Block rather than other shows like Australian Survivor or Austin.

Note that despite Seven’s attempt at goal post shifting in their media release. Nine won Sunday 6pm-12pm as all ratings days are measured.

Not sure if there was much benefit to the AFL game on Sunday night. It had only a negligible impact on ratings where Nine, Seven, 10 and ABC all went up by just 0.2 points all at the expense of SBS. Seven did get a better demo result though that a Voice dominated Sunday.

While the AFL game went longer The Block easily beat the game in all markets and in the end doubled the audience. In Brisbane the AFL was third after The Block and Survivor. I think Seven might have hoped for more.

A very good Sunday for Nine News including being the number one show in Sydney and Melbourne. It was the second best Sunday of the year for Nine Sydney where the news started 2 minutes late thanks to an NRL overrun. It was Seven’s lowest rated Sunday bulletin since Easter.

Makes that look even worse. I think Seven might re-consider Sunday night AFL going forward, if it’s against a major reality like The Block and the game is not involving two big Victorian clubs who are expected to have a good contest (such as Collingwood vs Geelong or Hawthorn vs Collingwood).

Wonder if they should’ve just aired that previous Thursday night game instead of requesting not to show it, was it in lieu for this? And could’ve kept The Voice.

The metro top 30 (well 25) still easily outrates “+” national total.

Lucky whatever is after Survivors Finale starts on a Monday, so not a direct lead out from those numbers. Whilst Deal isnt setting the world on Fire, its certainly more demo friendly

Am i missing something here? The combination of AFL and 1% club rated higher than the voice. Likewise, the total reach figures from both programs is higher than the block. More unique viewers watched 7 last night during that time bracket then they did on nine. This was also the highest rated AFL program on sunday night by quite a large margin. The reality is, Sunday night football is hard, because it faces more competition. It’s why Nine stays out of it, but it was a success. The amount of downplaying here is crazy, especially the comments about Brisbane ratings (it received one of the highest ratings in Brisbane for an AFL program this year)

Sunday Night AFL + The 1% Club Aus (rpt) combined did well. But a split national schedule on a Sunday isn’t ideal on a regular basis.

ABC’s Aussie drama - Family Next Door - could have done better. But British drama that followed - I Jack Wright - was able to hold on and not lose much of its lead in.

The daytime airings of the NRLW seems to be ratings okay for Nine.
