Nine secures a huge Sunday victory with its 37% share, its best since the Australian Open in January. 10 does well to land in second place with its highest share of the year while Seven posts its lowest share of 2023.

The Married At First Sight reunion episode is the first over one million for the franchise this year in linear numbers and compares to 1,140,000 for the equivalent episode in 2022. Later, 60 Minutes continued to do well to top 500k.

10’s week got off to a great start with the launch of a new season of I’m A Celebrity in its new April slot. While delivering a good share for the network the numbers were the lowest linear results for a season opener and compare to 750,000 / 794,000 for last year that premiered 3 January.

Earlier, the preliminary numbers for the Formula One were topped by a Post Race segment that had 514,000 with 447,000 for the race. That compares to 2022 that had 611k for the podium and 523,000 for the race.

Sandwiched between the two were some preliminary numbers for 10 News to be adjusted while The Project recorded its highest audience for the year both 7pm and 6.30.

10’s schedule features a number of preliminary numbers that may need to be adjusted. The 5pm news started at 5:55 PM eastern while I’m a Celebrity had a 17 minute overrun.

Seven’s main highlight was the 2023 high for Melbourne’s 6pm news bulletin, the highest for any bulletin on any network this year. Earlier the afternoon AFL was up on the previous week. The rest of Seven’s schedule that featured a repeat of this Is Your Life and a new Code One episode was missing from the top 20.

ABC’s line up included a +600k result for 7pm news while Death in Paradise was up over 500k for the first time in three week. Also, a good result for Insiders with a total of 450k including the News Channel audience.

Foxtel’s top 20 was all sport, topped by Formula One with a preliminary number just under 400k well up on last year’s 281k.

A rare win for Weekend Breakfast.

11 out of 20 shows belong to 10 and they still couldn’t win :frowning:

Huge numbers for MAFS. The magic million!

Well the MAFS Reunion Dinner Party certainly did some damage to Celeb. Although as far as 10 are concerned - averaging just below 600k for a 2 hour+ broadcast is pretty good. Let’s see if it can gain some momentum when MAFS ends.

5 of the top 20 entries for 10 were outside of prime time though.

After news, Seven just gave up and ran away to hide.

Not very good results for Seven, with only news and AFL making the top 20. Luckily for them they smashed the competition with 7NEWS winning.

10 had a great night, coming second to Nine. The news outrated ABC News in Melbourne and only 20k behind Nine. IAC:GMOOH also did good for Ten.

A bit crazy for Ten to launch Celebrity up agains the MAFS reunion.

It is a wasted opportunity as the opening numbers could have been so much higher and I think perhaps they miscaluculated and thought that MAFS was finished last week.

I think the premiere of I’m a Celebrity would have attracted 100,000 more viewers if it was not against MAFS.

The F1 did pretty well for 10 and even better for Fox Sports.

It was the other way around. 10 announced the premiere date for I’m a Celebrity back in February, then Nine responded by scheduling MAFS against it, so the onus was on 10.

Nine obviously held the two episodes of MAFS over to this week to damage I’m A Celebrity. MAFS was obviously supposed to end before the two unofficial Easter non-ratings weeks. Ten don’t care about these unofficial non-ratings weeks and schedule new shows any time.

Yes Ten had a lot of time to change the date then.

A missed opportunity for them.

and then Nine will change things again, they can’t just keep ping ponging schedule changes when each other moves the goalposts. Sometimes they just have to accept it.

Yes but Ten dont often have the opportunity to air a show that has the potential to rate 700-800k

Exactly. Nine have done this many times before.

A lot planning and logistics goes into making a live show in South Africa. You can’t just delay the start date when all the celebrities and workers are set to go.

Plus if you delayed the screenings and not had it live then you have to deal with massive billboards and adverts out there promoting the wrong date.

The counter argument to that is that it always the opening episodes of Celebrity that rate really well then people tend to lose interest

But there is no easy answer. In the past, Ten have left a two week break between their reality shows to make sure there isn’t a clash but then they’ve fallen in a heap when they screened filler or repeats and found it difficult to bring the audience back. Just like what happened with Seven last night.

I wasnt aware it was live. I thought it was filmed ages ago?

In 10’s defence, the launch date for Celebrity was advertised a long time ago. 9 deliberately scheduled MAFS against it to ruin their party. Those MAFS specials would normally have been scheduled during the week last week. But that backfired on 9 I guess because they lost the week to 7.

The dead giveaway was the LIVE bug in the last segments of the show.
