Seven won Sunday by almost 5 points, up three from the previous in-survey Sunday. Nine and ABC lost share as 10 potsed its second-best Sunday share of the year while SBS was up two points.

The Easter out-of-survey got underway and saw Nine News as the number one show with its best Sunday in five weeks and 90k ahead of Seven’s bulletin. 60 Minutes at 7pm was up 40k from the previous week to 863k. A new episode of RBT then averaged 558k. The first episode of the two part The People v Michael Jackson that followed had just 337k.

AFL Port Adelaide v Hawthorn aired straight out of news in Melbourne and Adelaide on Seven’s main channel averaging 524k to make the top 10. Seven’s main channel primetime elsewhere started with a The 1% Club UK repeat on just over 400k. Highway Patrol that followed didn’t make the rankings but the premiere movie Equalizer 3 then averaged 246k.

ABC’s drama line-up continued with Darby and Joan, just under the 600k mark, slightly lower than last week. Unforgotten then was steady just over 400k.

For 10, the penultimate episode of Survivor Australia ranked fifth overall with 643k, up 30k for the season’s best Sunday result. Matlock that followed also got a boost to over 300k, for the first time since February.

The afternoon’s AFL St Kilda v GWS averaged 375k, the lowest Sunday entry for the season.

The Tigers easy win over the Knights on Nine’s NRL afternoon had 475k also a low for Sunday NRL.

Weekend Sunrise slipped to 358k but stayed 110k ahead of Weekend Today.

Big 5-city win for Nine. Seven Melbourne especially low considering AFL as lead in and lead out. The bulletin started and ended 6 minutes late so may be adjusted.

Breakfast numbers quite low though an easy win for Sunrise.

I noticed that this and last week, Nine has coded The Sunday Footy Show into two - an “AFL” version and a “normal” one (for the NRL cities). Instead of combining the two they had been doing so for years. I guess it helps us, as they do air at different times.

I reckon deep down the AFL and Seven at least would be a bit disappointed with those results. IMO it was actually a wrong time to have a special Sunday prime time game (Easter non-ratings / school holidays*) and I don’t think the match-up was right for it (you need bigger clubs albeit yes Port as part of local Gather Round was a major factor I’d imagine here). And yeah the contest didn’t help things either.

In recent years, the Essendon v Carlton Sunday night game at the MCG has been significantly bigger and better.

*Good for crowds and events including family travel… But not to much for TV, IMO.

Massive share for Viceland, I’m guessing thanks to the cycling. Close to main channel and 7mate which had AFL in some markets.

Yes SBS having some good numbers over its platforms. Closing in on 10.
