Sunday produced another set of impressive ratings numbers. Seven’s coverage of this year’s Bathurst 1000 averaged almost 1.5m national viewers with a reach of 3.16m. Earlier, the Warm Up averaged 513k in preliminary numbers.
The rain-affected race that didn’t see a winner until over 40 minutes after the scheduled finish saw Seven’s News pushed to 6:42pm AEDT in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The coverage then leaked over to 7Mate for the victory celebrations that finished at 7:00 pm AEDT.
The result compared to the 2024 coverage that had 1.223 m for the race and 513k for the warm up.
The afternoon’s coverage was a good lead in to Seven’s primetime where Seven News had almost 1.9m in preliminary numbers.
Meanwhile on Nine, The Block’s backyard reveal got close to 1.7 million for its second best result of the year after Nine News was over 1.3 million.
The Voice’s second Knockout round with 1.046m was the show’s second highest result of the year while the Amazing Race Australia Celebrity on 10 was up 150k from last week’s episode that went against the NRL Grand Final. It was its best Sunday result of the season.
On ABC, The Assembly with Julia Morris was up 20k with Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World premiering on SBS at 7.30pm to 184k.
60 Minutes then was a timeslot winner with 781k ahead of part one of The Rise And Fall Of Kings Cross that managed 558k while Watson was back on 10 with just 124k. That was behind SBS’s new drama King & Conqueror that did well to get 178k with ABC’s Mystery Road: Origin on 310k.
9News Late also a winner, had 426k. With no Sunrise due to Bathurst coverage, Weekend Today surged to 361k .
Note that some entries will need adjustment including Border Security and Weekender that reflected extended Bathurst coverage.
Impressive figures for Bathurst 1000 both on TV and 7plus.
If The Voice’s ratings hold above one million after adjustments, it will be the season’s biggest audience since the final blind auditions episode on August 31.

Impressive numbers for Bathurst 1000 (and for the News which was 45 minutes of the race in some cities). And kudos to Seven for only coding the Race to two segments - “Race” (11.45am-6pm aedt) and “Supports / Warm Up” (7.00-11.45am aedt). Compared to other events when they have half a dozen segments (or 3 segments for Weekend Saturday).
The Block still doing wonders for Nine.
Sundays after 8.30pm on 10: Not in operation. Test pattern to come.
Can we look forward to an event with one coding anytime soon? “7+SPORT: Bathurst 1000” or something like that?
These codings really just exist to clutter up the EPG. Heck, there’s about ten mins of space between the final siren of an AFLW match and the bounce of the next, and Fox splits that in half every time.
