Big ratings once again for Nine. Only a matter of time now before it hits the magic million.
Good uplift for Survivor too.
Plus the demos are significantly higher than Idol. Itās getting 60%+ lift in 25-54 so itās doing a decent job holding up. Itās also up year on year on BVOD. So there are metrics where it is definitely outperforming idol which clearly is skewing way too old
Sevenās demoās generally skew a lot older than Tenās shows so this is not a surprise. Thatās where Idol would want higher total viewers to make up for some of that.
Thereās a lot of factors to look at - I believe Idol has been doing a bit better outside the 5 key markets (at least read something along those lines in the first week).
Also a bit off topic but regarding BVOD 7Plus seems to have a lot more commercials than the other streaming services (from my experience). It makes shows with long episodes very hard to watch back, so Iām not surprised Idol isnāt picking up as much.
Anyone got a figure for the 6.30pm Project because it looks like it got beaten by a documentary on SBS about Ancient Egyptian Trains?
Your fascination with The Project continuesā¦
It would be fascinating to see an actual number because many people are asking how long can this go on?
At least they are beating Foxtel. For now.
Ok, Iām out.
how long can this go on?
How do you know it isnāt making money?
You fixate on some one off number yet donāt know its cost and advertising revenue.
Ok, Iām out.
See you tomorrow morning
The answer should be quite straightforward: Because you immediately bloat out the episodes and mess around with what made it work from the get-go.
Agree with that and itās a daggy and tired format compared to the talent shows that came after it. Somebody mentioned here that it was probably a bad idea to have Americans like Megan and Harry as judges because they donāt know the Australian music that a lot of the contestants have performed and they know nothing about the history of Australian Idol which the show keeps referencing.
Ok, Iām out.
I thought you werent coming here to talk about The Project for a few days. See you tomorrow.
Also, there are other sites where you can see the ratings for the 6.30pm portion. Try google.
Seven took a big risk launching Idol against MAFS as almost anything up against it in recent times has struggled. It probably would have done better if it launched after Easter, although itās much easier to say that in hindsight.
It would have put Idol too close to The Voice (which is currently scheduled for Q3). There needs to be a considerable gap between the two singing talent shows.
I understand why 7 put idol in Q1 so itās not too close to the Voice in Q3 or AGT (if thatās coming back in Q4)
scott:Ok, Iām out.
I thought you werent coming here to talk about The Project for a few days. See you tomorrow.

Thanks Yellow Sock, I just Googled and this came up in an article today.
"The Projectās terminal ratings decline could have a much broader impact on Channel 10ās prime-time programming, according to a new report.
The current affairs show is losing viewers hand over fist, after shedding 32 per cent of its Monday-to-Friday national audience in 12 months.
Compared to this time last year, The Projectās first half-hour from 6.30pm is down 30 per cent in the five major cities, while the second half-hour from 7pm is down a whopping 34 per cent, reports The Australian."
Thanks for posting that article. It is a good read. It confirms the drop in ratings across the hour for The Project. I think everyone in here isnāt denying The Projectās poor numbers for the 6.30pm portion. Although the 7pm portion is down too, it has been often the number one show for 10 in the past, including the last few months of 2022, and the first few weeks of 2023.
Moving along, and hoping we dont mention The Projects ratings on a daily basis (i know iām guilty of that at times), 10 do need to fix the 6-7pm hour. All the talk on the 6.30pm portion, yet no one talks about Tenās News First ratings for the 6pm, which often rates less that The Project. (Thereās a āmock schedule topicā of what programs can go on 10 in that slot)
Since we are now in the Official Ratings Period, we can also talk about other shows the flop for 10 - like post their reality tentpole on certain nights.
Anyone got a figure for the 6.30pm Project because it looks like it got beaten by a documentary on SBS about Ancient Egyptian Trains?
These shows werenāt even on in the same timeslot. Silly comparison to make. We know at 7pm The Project had almost 100k more viewers than the documentary.
The current affairs show is losing viewers hand over fist, after shedding 32 per cent of its Monday-to-Friday national audience in 12 months.
Itās not just The Project shedding audience, most of Tenās shows have. Should Ten just give up on everything? When Ten have better performing reality shows the Project usually gets a lift. Letās also not forget how much the Murdoch media hate The Project. Nothing new there.

MAFS tops 1 million for the first time this season.
First time this season Survivor hit 900,000 in Total TV figures, as the result of that tribal council.
Also, a repeat episode of Vera overtook 60 Minutes after regionals, timeshifting and BVOD were added.
Wow the BVOD audience for MAFS is insane. Huge numbers. Can only expect last nightās episode to hit total 2m.
