Nine secured a +40% network share on Sunday that was its highest for the year on a night not involving sports. It included wins across all timeslots starting in the afternoon.
The highlight was the auction night for the 20th season of The Block. Nine opted for a split coding of a reality final that was unusual under the new ratings reporting system. That separated out the “Winner Announced” segment from the rest of the final. The average audience was a massive 2.19 million while the rest of the program wasn’t far behind with 2.11 million. The split coding potentially reduces the reach number compared to if one coding had been used, though Nine are less focused on reach than other broadcasters.
The results compare to 2023 when the closest comparable numbers were 2.375 million and 2.051 million.
Seven’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo did well to land with just under 700k while Fisk lifted over 700k this week as Spicks and Specks had 329k and Dessert Masters was just under the 300k mark.
Later, 60 Minutes hit a season high of 1.25 million (at least in preliminary numbers), only the second time this year over one million and ranked third for the night.
That was just ahead of Nine News that was 90k ahead of Seven’s 6pm bulletin helped by a healthy lead in of 614k for the Pacific Championship final featuring an Australian win that concluded just after 6pm in Sydney and Melbourne.
Also, later, The British Airways Killer had 275k just ahead of Plum that averaged 258k and The Graham Norton Show on 181k up against the end of The Block’s broadcast that finished around 9.30pm.

Haven’t watched The Block in a long time since it moved away from renovation and basing this comment on articles published about the program to ramp up the sensationalism for ratings.
About time program classifications took into account mental health.
My personal feeling about MAF’s and The Block and many other ‘reality’ programs is they have crossed the line of acceptable behavior and encourage/normalise the behavior now.

The Block still doing wonders for Nine. And shows no signs of slowing down. No wonder why Nine are still milking this show, with those sorts of numbers. And welcome back to “Winner Announcement”. You have not been missed. lol.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on Seven did better than I thought it would get.
Fisk is a hit for the ABC. More than double of it’s lead-in (Spics and Specks), and then a huge drop off afterwards for Plum.
