A Sunday win for Nine almost three ahead of Seven that stayed competitive despite an abandoned Big Bash game. ABC improved by one to its best Sunday share since March while 10 was down one to a six-week low. Nine, Seven and SBS were on par with the previous Sunday.

Nine achieved success with a first run Christmas special The Hundred with Andy Lee at 7pm with 469,000. That was 100k more that its average audience of its recent season and a 2023 high for the show. 60 Minutes that followed did well to manage 356k in Summer mode. Later, Forged in Fire also made the top 10.

Seven’s codings will need to be adjusted for the line up that went to air to replace the abandoned BBL Game. That included The 1% Club and Code One depending on market.

ABC’s Joanna Lumley’s Britain made the top five even as a repeat with a Death in Paradise Christmas Special sixth for the night.

The Bachelors was 15th and down almost 60k from the launch episode of the previous week but on par with Monday and Tuesday’s numbers. In a low rating night, 10’s 6pm News segment and The Project 6.30pm portion made the top 20 as The Project at 7pm was the network’s top show ranking 11th.

A big win for Weekend Sunrise to make the top 10 while Weekend Today was outside the top 20 and 10k behind Weekend Breakfast. It was Weekend Today’s lowest rating of the year.

The early end to the BBL game due to unsafe pitch means Fox Cricket’s figures will also need to be adjusted.

The ratings success of The Hundred Christmas special should mean it will be back next year.

9Gem topped multichannels thanks to James Bond movie Live and Let Die.

82k difference between Nine and Seven News in Melbourne. Wow.
Will definitely be interesting to see how they compare when Bec and Mike are up against Hitch.

Looks like 7News at 5 flogged 9 and 10 as well.

An hour earlier the difference was only 1000.

Been mentioned before, but 007 is still quite the lucrative FTA property (Nine via Stan also have svod rights), as seen every time the marathon airs, will continue to dictate 9Gem, Nine Network and FTA shares over summer and no doubt contribute (possibly some nights single handedly) to wins, think that’s almost 5% (huge for today) two days in a row and all but one IIRC over 4% and last night was well over 100k metro and No. 1 m/c program too.

Alicia generally brings home the Melbourne news by considerable margin outside of AFL regardless, nothing new.

They’ve changed the line up every year since the Cam and Leila days. They can’t just keep changing it. Gotta give the team time to bed in. It’s not always about the faces but about the content etc.

Yep, complete turn around in Melbourne the last 3 weeks. Nine is killing it in the Melbourne Market. 2024 is going to be interesting.

No AFL and no local programming.
Compared to Nine, Ten and ABC, Seven’s lack of investment (over the past 3 years) in Melbourne is now having an affect.

What do you mean by local programming?

Seven has not reinstated any local (or national production) back in Melbourne since covid. Part from the local news and the AFL, there is barely anything throughout the year.

I believe this is now starting to effect news numbers in Melbourne, especially over the summer months. Nine’s perception is perceived to more local and connecting with the large Melbourne audience through Today (local hosts), games shows, reality shows, sports shows, travel shows, local events (Moomba / Fire Works / Carrols by Candle Light) Tennis and soon the introduction of the Melbourne Cup.

It’s only a matter of time until numbers flow through to 9 News and affect Seven. It’s a very fickle market and always has been.

Like I said, 2024 will be interesting to watch and see.
