It was The Block’s 22nd Season Grand Final that drew another bumper audience to average 1.928m for the record-breaking episode. However, that was down on the 2025 season auctions that had 2.393m. Overall, the season average 1.148m in the overnights down from last year’s 1.295m, though this year featured fewer Sunday reveals than traditional weeks.
Most of the lost viewers went to Seven’s Rugby League World Cup coverage that featured a narrow win by Tonga over Samoa at night averaging an impressive 1.502m. Earlier, the twilight thriller where Lebanon beat France in Golden Point extra time had 703k while the afternoon’s Women’s game Australia v Wales that featured the record score for Australia had an impressive 526k.
For ABC, episode four of Recipe of the Year was steady with 520k. Over on 10, the first Big Brother eviction of the season had 410k to finish fourth in the timeslot, down from Gogglebox that last week had 478k.
Later, 60 Minutes got a big boost from the lead, lifting to a season-high 1.194m almost double last week’s episode that had 681k.
Dustfall’s fourth episode slipped to 360k from 393k after debuting to 580k while The Graham Norton Show dropped back to its usual level with 191k after last week’s big episode.
Also seen in the top 30 were episode three of season two of Scrublands that had just under 300k.
The Women’s AFL made the list with 122k and the WBBL had 109k.
Seven News was the top rated bulletin of Sunday with 1.275m just ahead of Nine News with 1.208m.
Weekend Sunrise had another big Sunday with 389k tuning in. That compared to Weekend Today with 218k and Weekend Breakfast with 179k.

The Rugby League World Cup really put a huge dent on The Block’s finale ratings.
I feel that the cracks are appearing on The Block’s overall ratings due to a combination of factors, like the downturn in the real estate market and the decrease in house prices, and clever counter programming by Seven (with My Kitchen Rules and RLWC). Next year, The Block will air amid so many live sports on Nine including Rugby (Union) World Cup, Netball World Cup and World Athletics Championships; it will be interesting to see if the show will be able to regain some of the lost audience.
The first eviction of this season of Big Brother did poorly.

Massive ratings for both The Block grand final and RLWC, with the former getting the easy victory probably to be expected.
BB is disappointing for 10, I feel they stuffed up its launch this year, should’ve been away from RLWC which is too much of a disruptor, Block and MKR. Could’ve even tried late November into December? Especially with ‘non-ratings survey’ no longer a thing.

Not sure why Seven’s ratings report didn’t mention this: the BVOD rating for Tonga v Samoa last night (567,000) is second only to the RLWC opener between Australia and New Zealand (594,000).
Sully:

Next year’s Rugby World Cup will be a disruptor just as much, with some knockout matches on Sunday nights (October 24 and 31). I think 10 should wait until after the RWC final on November 13 and The Block auction finale to launch Big Brother.

Not that I don’t agree with you, but 10 shouldn’t be in that much dire situations, that a show can only be successful if launched at its competitors weakest schedule. 7 and 9 are always going to have something stronger than 10.
They launch a show that does well for its run( celeb jungle, traitors and MasterChef) and then lose all momentum by not having another show ready and instead fills the schedule with random low rating shows, so when they are ready to launch a striped reality, all the viewers have gone elsewhere and they have no one to advertise to.
