The problem with getting rid of this 4 hours is that 10 would struggle to meet their 55% of local content between 6am and midnight each day. This provides significant daily local content for 10 despite its quality.
The news updates are good in this show at least. Some of the content is decent and better than the other two it’s just it’s lacking the spark it once had and is a little too derivative.
I don’t think there would be too many calling for the whole shebang to be axed, but certainly as the show is now how can they be proud of pumping this out each day when it comes off as such a long slog and clearly isn’t resonating with people?
There’s no reason for it to run from 8am. It’d be much better suited to try something like 10-1. Offer a bloody alternative, look at ITV this morning for some inspiration.
They need more contributors for these type of segments.
Their first segment ‘The Talk’ is opinion based but it’s just the presenters offering virtually the same opinions - they really need another point of view and not just for the sake of having an opposing or deliberately inflammatory view like well known shock jocks or the like.
More voices here would really make these segments better.
There is one reason and the only reason it is still on air- infomercial revenue. They can jam in another half a dozen informercials in the extra 90 minutes they do in comparison to the other morning shows.
You’re right that they more often than not use ‘Ten’, probably just a legacy thing from the staff doing the straps & supers who’ve worked there a while.
In the example above it does use their preferred 10 in the bottom super though and more recently I have noticed them correctly using “on 10 and 10 play on demand”.
Tristian’s first day back this morning after 14 days isolation and Sarah is off, with Narelda filling in for her this morning. Doody presenting news updates.
From what I’ve seen, they usually start the show after the news update with a preview standing in front of the screen and then migrate to the couch for the first 30 mins or so.
After the first ad break the news presenter uses it again to present the ‘state of play’ for covid numbers etc. The video wall is then used for specific stories and interviews throughout the show.
I think sitting on the couch for prolonged periods
must be uncomfortable, certainly looks that way.
Would like to see them use the desk again and have the news presenter use the standing desk in front of the control room glass like they did previously.
A little observation this morning, and something I think may have gone unnoticed, but looking at an old picture of the Pyrmont studio and I noticed that the couch had some alternations at the end of last year.
The height of the back section looks like it’s been raised or more likely the actual seat section was lowered slightly, you can clearly see that the seat cushions were also changed for some thicker ones for more padding as the original ones were quite thin and would’ve been uncomfortable for 4 hours every day.
On another note, I wish someone would get a cloth and clean the base of the couch as those scuff marks are so visible during the show. So simple yet overlooked day in & day out.
