Stan Sport

If you’re 10/PP you’re best waiting until after the Olympics. Will get lost otherwise.

I don’t see why they would need to anyway. However, they need to announce a lot of signings and broadcast details this month.

Some really should have been announced on the day that they start the broadcast deal.

I’m expecting a big name league to be on Stan as they’re the home of the Champions League to attract subscribers.

It’s not going to create column inches or website space while the Olympics are on and there’s the Matildas still in the mix for a medal.

Stan Football Coverage

Good to see Craig Foster on Stan Sport. He was excellent at SBS - one of the best football analysts in the country.

Hopefully 9Gem will broadcast some UCL matches live throughout the tournament.

That’s the plan. Whether it is more than just the final, remains to be seen. If they do run it on FTA, it will be based on ratings as to whether they show games other than the final there from next season. If it rates it’s socks off (for that time of the day) then they will probably up the amount/frequency.

I can’t see 9Gem broadcasting any group stage games, maybe from the quarter final stage onwards?

Who knows, we will just have to wait and see. Even from QF stage would be a bonus.

You’d think we’d get to host one of these eventually, considering TA are part-organisers.

If you look at the cities hosting, it’s been places where tournaments aren’t held. It’s not coming down here.

Could happen in Perth or Adelaide for a change

Both have tournaments though.

Who knows when the Asian Swing is coming back to normal too otherwise no point flying halfway around the world for it.

GAME, SET, MATCH…STAN ADDS ANOTHER GRAND SLAM TO TENNIS COVERAGE WITH NEW US OPEN DEAL

Brand new multi-year partnership with the US Open brings ad-free, live and on-demand coverage of every match from Flushing Meadows to Stan Sport with select matches on Nine beginning August 2022.

15 SEPTEMBER 2021 – Stan today announced that it will expand its tennis offering in 2022, with Australia’s leading local streaming service securing the rights to every match of the US Open with select matches on Nine.

This deal re-affirms Stan’s commitment to Grand Slam tennis with fans able to enjoy the action from Roland Garros , Wimbledon and the US Open in 2022. This follows Stan’s recent announcement securing the rights to the upcoming Laver Cup - a thrilling, fast-paced men’s tennis competition between a superstar team from Europe against the best players from the rest of the world.

The combination of Stan, alongside Nine’s broader TV platforms and media assets, means Stan is better placed than any other streaming or broadcast TV business to bring these sports to more Australians than ever before.

The 2021 US Open, which finished earlier this week, will go down in history as Russian Daniil Medvedev stunned the sport by upsetting world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets, crushing the Serbian’s dream of clinching the calendar-year Grand Slam. On the women’s side of the draw, teenage qualifier Emma Raducanu completed her historic run by beating Leylah Fernandez , securing her first Grand Slam title. It was also a historic tournament for Australian Dylan Alcott , who made history by winning the US Open to claim the Golden Slam, with victory at all four majors and the Paralympics in the same year.

Stan Acting Chief Executive Officer Martin Kugeler said: “Stan will become the home of the US Open in Australia from 2022 onwards — expanding our Grand Slam tennis coverage following the success of Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Australians have a proud history competing at Flushing Meadows, and we look forward to seeing what unfolds when the tournament returns in August next year."

USTA Chief Revenue Officer Lew Sherr said : "“We have always admired the Nine Network’s coverage of the Australian Open, so we know that the US Open has found a great home on Nine and Stan Sport. They have a proven commitment to tennis and a demonstrated ability to elevate and integrate the sport’s presentation across all their platforms.”

The US Open returns in August 2022 with ad-free, live and on-demand coverage on Stan Sport and select matches on Nine.
