I still hope to see the day that Mac Jones in enclosed and the grass banks are gone once abd for all.
Also how long before the Clive Churchill, Bewongal and O’Reilley Stands at the SCG will need to be demolished and rebuilt?

Suncorp Stadium will get more upgrades before the 2032 Games amid criticism the overhaul announced this week was underwhelming.
Mr Crisafulli on Thursday acknowledged the “modest” increase in capacity, but revealed more would come.
“There are multiple stages,” he said. “I do believe that in the future there are opportunities to increase the capacity. The first stage is what I outlined and it’s important that we do that.”
If you want to go decades too late, why did they jam the main oval right up against Moorabool Street in the first place? Kardinia Park takes up the whole block bound by Latrobe Terrace, Park Crescent, Moorabool Street and the railway line/Kilgour Street - there is ample land in there to expand but the oval has remained jammed in the corner where it is.
As for future upgrades, what could they even entail? The stadium is finished. Maybe some peripheral works around the ground to support other sports/lower levels of sport?
Giant Gary Ablett statue. And one of Premiers Allen and Andrews to piss everyone off. ![]()

I don’t like the pointy spirals on the roof and surrounds.

If they’re going to build it next to MJS, how about moving the trotting track to the showgrounds and renovating that too. Replace the trotting track with more car parking spaces. You can’t get parking passes during the NRL season, you have to park in a side street (I found at least two sweet spots
) or deal with inadequate public transport.
Also, how about renovating MJS too? Needs wifi, needs a roof, probably have to get rid of the hills eventually…
Yeah phone reception there is shit.
Plus as much as some would get nostalgic. I think in this day and age grass banks have had their day.
Timetable for the Suncorp refurbishment revealed on Nine News - will be finished for the Rugby World Cup late 2027.
You would assume that Suncorp Stadium will have reduced capacity for Super Rugby and NRL matches, as well as rugby union internationals next year, due to the upgrade works.
