Sports That Don’t Have Or Need A Thread

Dean Vickerman had resigned as Melbourne United coach after nine seasons.

I don’t see how it’s a “stunning” move. It’s been rumoured for weeks. Dean’s done everything with United and the opportunity came up for a new challenge.

Mike Wells stepping down after renewing his contract more a “stunner” than Dean leaving.

The Australian Open is a must see golf event on the Australian sporting calendar.

And now, it’s coming to South Australia.

It has only ventured out of New South Wales or Victoria twice in half a century.

For some time, we have been engaged with Golf Australia discussing the… pic.twitter.com/HqOmCg39Nm

It will alternate each year with the women’s Australian Open, meaning there will be at least three men’s and three women’s Opens held in Adelaide between 2028 and 2034.

The exact timing of events beyond 2028 and their split with another state is yet to be determined, Golf Australia said.

The men’s event has not been held in Adelaide since 1998.

Philadelphia completed its total crashout of the playoffs this morning after being swept by the Knicks.

They were also swept yesterday by the Flyers, which means they’ve become the first instance of a city being swept in the NBA and NHL in the same respective round.

At least the Phillies on a 2-win streak if it’s any condolences.

For the Knicks, following the conclusion of their conference semifinal run, they had a 20.3 net rating - an all-time NBA record, and yes, 1 point above OKC. Now they can earn a rest until next Monday (provided Pistons in 5).

Les Habitants go 2-1 up in the series against Buffalo, winning 6-2 in a very punchy encounter. Loads of punches thrown.

This the Eastern 1-seed?

(Note NBC miscounted - the run at this point was 23-0.)

In the NHL, Colorado beat Minnesota 4-3, claiming the series 4-1 and reaching the Western Conference finals. Avalanche came from 0-3 to draw level in regulation before Brett Kulak scored the winning goal in OT.

Montreal vs Buffalo - where defence is optional.

Les Habs are 1 game away from the Eastern Conference Finals.

Teams were 0-640 this century when down 8+ runs in an NCAA softball tournament game.

And Texas Tech did the unthinkable.
