In breaking news, Christian Horner sacked as CEO of Red Bull racing after 20 years.
Red Bull confirmed Horner’s exit in a brief statement and announced Laurent Mekies will step up from Racing Bulls to take the 51-year-old’s place as Red Bull Racing CEO and team principal.
Alan Permane will be promoted to team principal at the sister team Racing Bulls, having been its racing director.
As an Oscar fan, this is really great timing to take the scrutiny off him- F1 socials have been absolutely feral towards him (and McLaren) the past couple of days between the alleged Hulk podium ‘snub’ and his 10 second penalty.
Oscar needs to regroup in Belgium. It was his race to lose the other night and it all got too much. It’s a shame Lando won.
Peter McGauran has announced his resignation from the role of Australian Turf Club chairman, a position he has held for the past three years.
It comes in the aftermath of a vote by ATC members’ in May not to proceed with a potential $5 billion sale of Rosehill racecourse, an initiative championed by McGauran.

Yep, the most frustrating part for me was that he had Verstappen well and truly covered and getting into that situation (despite the sub-optimal timing of the SC lights going out) was unnecessary to begin with.
Think he’s been a bit rattled ever since he wasn’t able to get that second run in Q3 in Austria (and further compounded by Colapinto nearly wiping him out in the race).
I really hope he’s able to put this all behind him now, dwelling on what might have been won’t help so hope he doesn’t fall into that trap.
I’m fairly confident he should bounce back though, he’s done it before like he did after the disappointment in Melbourne (by winning 4 of the next 5 rounds).
fingers crossed. as an aussie thats been watching F1 since 2001 this is our best chance for a WDC yet. I’ve seen Webber (Ironically Oscar’s manager) lead the WDC amongst hype. I’ve seen Danny Ric win races and get hype, by Piastri is a whole level above them and he has the rare combo of skills and a wininng car.
My only concern is the British media who are starting to turn on him and it may get in his head
Makes me wonder why the state government didn’t just compulsorily acquire the land at market rates. Not that I’d advocate for it, but still.
But this is NSW - we’re not the smartest state. And run by the Mafia.
I remember Webber’s win at the 2009 German Grand Prix was headline news in Australia; to that point in time he was the first Australian in nearly three decades to win a Grand Prix race.
I’ve also been impressed with the progress of Oscar Piastri this season, currently leading this year’s championship. If he can win it all, it’ll be another significant achievement in Australian sport.
We also can’t forget Casey Stoner winning two world championships in MotoGP by the age of 26, also winning five consecutive Australian MotoGP races, the last of them on his 26th birthday in 2011.
Wow, didn’t expect such a one sided Ladies final
